Is creating false guilt for profit by religions a good moral tenet?

Common sense is an oxymoron.
Most people don't know what it really means. Common sense doesn't mean common in the sense of lots of people have it, it means common in the sense of "common to all," like the common law, in other words, the sense that is widely agreed in the culture. When you mush a bunch of cultures together, what is common to all contracts. Ditto when you actively encourage people to be knuckleheads.

wherever i sit down my ars
I don't know much about any of that. In my twisted way of thought I kinda thought of common sense as the opposite of willfull ignorance. Maybe a better term would be,, "no brainer"

the question in other words could be, is prostituting religion a good moral practice. Hence, no brainer
Nothing wrong with making up a fairy tale. Insisting it's true is a con game, but so what? Folks seem to enjoy it.

Kinda like phone sex for money. It ain't real, but it feels good to some.

You could have just said "Sorry, Tecumsehsbones, I lack the wit, the patience, or both to respond because I like using undefined terms to cause fights."

If such simple and well know terms need to be defined for someone then I don't think they really want to discuss much.

It has been said that the last part of any discussion is where the definition of terms should happen.

If some type of general consensus on terms is not there at the beginning for people who use the same language, then someone is not too bright.

It's a societal norm expressed in almost all facets in life.

That said, your interest in skewing this 'tenet' towards religion is disingenuous.

They are touting themselves as the moral high ground. Why should I go after others and ignore the greatest offender?

Not to mention that this is the religious section of this site.

a person told me several years ago,,,and I'm thinkin the sayin may still apply today,,,,,"somewhere along the line, common sense needs to come into play"

That is harder to initiate when the religious have their moral and intellectual dissonance hats on.

Faith makes facts disappear.

Faith without facts is for fools.

Guilt is 100% personal.

Yes it is, and priests and imams will lie in the best way to make it so.

Don't think of a naked lady.

See, now put some of your cash in the basket because you sinned. Indulgences wipe away sin somehow.

Or possibly "smart enough to pour piss out of a boot."

More like knowing not to pee in a boot. Or it could be time for your new glasses. LOL.

Yep. My vote for "not too bright" would have to go to the person who can't define his terms.

Are you as bright as Webster?

Why do you feel that I should try to do better than the experts?

I gave examples in the O.P. and if some are not bright enough to get it I do not really want to talk to them.

Any guilt I may have, is false.
Make out of that what you will.
;-)

I am of the same mind as yourself.

For example, I feel no guilt whatsoever in referring to Monsieur Patriot as a douche bag.... I understand that any pangs of guilt would be false and as such, with clear conscious, move forward with the knowledge that my assessment is justified
