As far as I know man is about the only enemy of the Grizzly - the only specie that keeps them on their toes! When they cease to be hunted are they going to get fat and lazy and die a premature death?
This is not a hunting ban. It is a ban on trophy hunting. All trophy hunting should be banned because it kills off the breeders who keep the gene pool strong. What you end up with is sickly animals. One of the moronic excuses for the wolf hunt, for example, is that wolves kill indiscriminately. Wolves kill to cull out the sickly from the herd. If you kill the dominant breeding stock, you create sickly animals for the wolf to kill. Then you kill the wolves and further compound the problem. Grizzlies have a roll to play in the eco-system. Trophy hunting interrupted that roll.
Personally. I would like to see open season on trophy hunters. They are the lowest form of our species, next to politicians and racist assholes.
By definition, trophy animals are old, tough and gamey, that is why most of it goes to waste. The taste between young and old animals is very different. A young bear (under 5 years old) that has been feeding on berries for a month or two is very tasty, but an old boar is not. Same goes for deer, elk, cariboo, etc.I'd be OK with trophy hunting as long as it is secondary to killing the animal for the use of the meat. A lot of people don't like bear meat but I'm sure there's enough jails and hospitals where it could be put to good use. I have no problem with bear meat...............the sausage I've eaten is very good.

Bears have two paws, they should be able to hold two such knives. The hunter will be using both hand to take off his soiled pants so he can run faster.Make it fair. Allow Grizzly hunting with only one knife with a blade that is no longer than 6 inches.
