Yes he does , I love his showI like this guy. He always hits the nail on the head.
What's so funny?‘Comedian’ who gave $1 million to pro-Obama super PAC laments too much money in politics
MAHER: The problem with ObamaCare is not too much socialism. It’s still too much capitalism. The reason why it’s so screwed up is because we have to have this Rube Goldberg plan that allows for pharmaceutical companies to get their cut and insurance companies to get their cut and hospitals to enrich themselves and doctors to get rich. It should be a non-profit thing. Perhaps elections should not be a profit-making endeavor or cost $2 billion.

What's so funny?
What's funny about this is that Maher most likely took full advantage of the $1 million tax deduction to donate to Obama's campaign.
Far be it for Maher to do his own bit to close the income gap - he donated that amount knowing that if he didn't, he'd only end up paying it to the IRS that would no doubt waste the money on things like social programs or low income housing
Thanks , that kinda blows a hole in Locs joke eh?There is no tax deduction for political contributions. Sorry.
I'm generally amused by people who think that it's somehow wrong to take advantage of a rule while trying to change the rule. Only when people they don't like do it, of course. Thanks , that kinda blows a hole in Locs joke eh?
I don't know ,. sounds like a tactic in the right wing play book to me ...the only thing they are expert at is hating.I'm generally amused by people who think that it's somehow wrong to take advantage of a rule while trying to change the rule. Only when people they don't like do it, of course.

Rules surrounding the donations of capital; to a political party are vague at best.
For example, 35% gift tax to the campaign with the possibility of the donor in offsetting the donation against income as an expense.
.. Did you really think that Obama tooled on down to the local branch of BofA with his novelty cheque and deposited it directly?
Tax Report: Is Your Political Donation Deductible? - WSJ.com
"The other main body of law governing political giving is the one for nonprofit organizations, which is even more opaque at points. Several categories of nonprofits, including charities, "social welfare" groups and trade associations, are allowed to engage in political activities. But their tax treatment varies, and different types of groups are permitted to engage in politics in different ways."
This is from your own post:

Boldface mine.
Dance all you like. I've demonstrated my point.
Your bad again. The sources I linked specifically state that PAC donations are not tax deductible. My bad... After all, Maher did donate at the Super Pac, did he not?
Guess you should have picked-up on that too.
Regardless, here's another way that the system allows for deductions.
Wal-Mart to HP Reap Worker Political Donations Through Charities - Bloomberg
Hey! I object. I'm old but I hate nobody. In fact, I like everybody for providing humour in my life by being absurd and believing politics has any relevance other than providing cover for those who really make all the decisions that run the country, for believing in the absurdity of ancient texts and thinking that humans have evolved past the cave man mentality. I am thankful every day that I get to watch, what amounts to, Monty Python 24/7 every day of the year. It's because they are old.
