Europe and Canada are a little more liberal so they'd probably support the dems. I think Asia and Australia would support Repeblicans..

However, think about it.. The Republicans would totally kick the Democrat's @ss .Over 90% of are military is Republican. Democrat's don't believe in hand guns .Do the math!

The American Civil War was the best conducted in the pages of history. There was very little
direct interference and the two sides fought it out to some form of a conclusion because they
were exhausted. Today we in the west and in some cases like Vietnam, the eastern block
nations get involved. We either try to influence the outcome or force peace on unwilling participants.
Civil Wars are not very civil and unless you allow the combatants to duke it out until they are tired
of it the cycle repeats itself periodically.
You have to remember the conservative deep freeze the Old South was primarily Democrat in those
days, the North was mostly Republican. How the roles reverse themselves over time.

My guess is most countries would be more concerned about containment. In other words, they'd welcome refugees, still try to maintain friendly relations with whichever appeared to be the dominant government in the US, but would mind their own business otherwise, while keeping a close, concerned eye on any developments.

Sorry, I meant "legitimate", not "dominant".

In the US so their decedents can't claim Canadian citizenship.

Strange, I claimed, and got, Canadian Citizenship after my Canadian father died. I have lived in the USA (or on U.S. Military Posts around the world) all of my life (except for summers with my grandparents in Manitoba and later B.C.). All 7 of my father's American born children are also Canadian citizens.

Some sort of conclusion? The Confederacy was completely trounced. They were steamrolled.

We can change the question a little. Should there be a civil war in Canada, how would we expect other countries to act towards us? Personally, I'd hope they abide by all relevant international laws towards Canada. And so I'd expect Canada to behave likewise towards other countries.

I'm READY!!!! Lets get it over with so we can get back to restoring America! Hopefully no exotic chemicals will be used. I hate when I see the animals in the streets suffocating because of our inability to work together.

The proper response to a civil war outside your country is to be neutral and try to stay out of the way until it is resolved. I am aware that a lot of nations do not follow the proper response.

This topic reminds of a couple of quotes from the Guns n Roses song...

"I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war"

"But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights"

"what's so civil about war anyway?"
