They are casting for a new show about the Paranormal and I landed an initial interview. One of the things I have to do is put together 2 minutes of stuff I have already done on camera. Anybody know anything about .mov formats and how I make them? I have a Windows Media Center computer so I think it is possible...
Sure it's possible, but like most things, it depends...
.mov is the video format for Apple Quicktime, and if you already have some material in another format, all you need is the right software to migrate it into .mov format. I think Adobe Premier Elements will do it, the pro version of Quicktime will do it (at least it'll do .mpg to .mov anyway, can't vouch for anything else), and there's certainly cheaper stuff available you should be able to find with Google. I just tried it with the search argument "convert to mov" and got 140,000 hits, so there might be something useful there for you. I don't think there's anything built into Windows that'll do it though, unless there's some snazzy extra stuff with Windows Media Center I don't know about. There's certainly nothing on my WinXP system that'll do it. I can play them with Windows Media Player, but that's all. Mac systems might have something too, they're generally better at this kind of stuff than Windows, so maybe if you can find a friend with a Mac, or some photo/video shop that does that kind of stuff?
Good luck, with the conversion and the audition.
