With your drawings, include the engineering specifications for said material, as it's not a normal 'building material' that they will have data on hand for I'm assuming.

Thsi is the AAR's site online:

Crane steel, even the'old stuff' has some pretty remarkable strength and corrosion resistance compared to regualr mild steel- whcih makes sense, if you are pounding rail trucks over it at dockside. A lot of the old rail has quite high nickel content.

Worht looking into for salt & moisture exposure exposures....

thanks again
Reg

Seriously. How is the car coming along? What was it? A 62?

BTW steel warps badly in fire when wood doesn't so good luck with residential code on your fantasy.

if you have the equipment to move steel that heavy, then why is it that you are too cheap to get an engineering to do up some CAD files for you?

Liasts the free software availabe, but unfortunately doesn't rate the programs...
hunbolt.......I have found that putting a query out in a social forum, is like leisure prospecting.....You might just get lucky and hit the mother lode.......
But most likely, you'll end up with a bunch of useless rocks in your garage:lol:

But I suspect that you know that by now............;-)

What drives consulting engineers crazy is the gaffers that don't show up with a clear explanation and rudementary diagrams of what they
want, - then Whine afterwards that the engineer stiffed them .

But since Petros & Bondo are on 'ignore'- they can type all they want!

Never interfere with another person's fantasy....

I use "selective ignore".......Meaning, I'll answer a post or two, and when they get silly like the post above, I just cut the line and leave them looking sillier ;-)

Old fart if you want to talk about silly....it was punted from the boards on a previous occasion and you're flirting with a guy.
