Chavez calls for anti-US alliance
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has called on other Latin American and Caribbean countries to form a military alliance against the United States.

Mr Chavez has some key allies in his fight against capitalism, globalisation and the US.
Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua and now the Caribbean island of Dominica are all members of a trade alliance known as the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, a group that takes its name from South America's independence leader, Simon Bolivar.
Mr Chavez has urged them to draw up a joint defense policy and create a united military force against US imperialism.

"If the US threatens one of us, it threatens all of us," he said, "we will respond as one."

That's a very stupid thing to say about someone who cares about the poor and diadvantaged and has put his life on the line for the common good of mankind. You have no shame and no clue about what Hugo Chavez is or represents. I would be honoured to stand in front of him and take your bullet in his place him and you would kiss the boots of pigs. And he is dangerous, but not to the rank and file of the common man, but to the capitalist masters of the world, the source of all the war and misery. But here's the problem if they snuff him, he becomes an even greater icon for change, alive or dead, they cannot win against him because he is a good and honest person. I only wish Canada had a leader like that. I'm so tired of hearing him derided by people who would have done the same to Ghandi. That comment wasn't nearly as dumb as stating Chavez is a great man.

He's a meglomanical blowhard, like all political hacks, no matter the stripe.

BS, Ghandi's only fault was his love of cows.

Chavez loves only himself and his well intentioned acts are nothing more then him riding the stupidity that is the US's weakest administration.

All hacks scrample to exploit what they see as fodder, Chavez is no different.

If he is such a wonderful humanitarian, why did his own people not support him?
