How to avoid false marijuana charges after legalization?

It would seem to me that if an officer suspects me of consuming cannabis, I should have the right to just volunteer a blood sample. There should be no reason to force me to waste my time with unreliable tests once I volunteer for a blood sample. Once I volunteer a blood sample, the officer should legally be required to register my ID, take the blood sample, and let me go. If the officer is still concerned, he could drive me home. Other than that, he should let me go and let the blood test handle the rest.

Police conducting roadside blood testing.

Sounds practical.

My suggestion would be to not get caught smoking false marijuana.

What could go wrong?

Well, better than arresting me based on a flawed behavioural test. Besides, if you look at the video, it seems one local police department in the US has started to just take a blood test and then let the person go until the results are in. Seems to make sense to me.

Would it make sense to you to give someone a sobriety test for booze and let them keep driving until the results come in?

He doesn't look at videos or read anything. He just posts nonsense. Like he's doing in this thread.

If you look at the video, the one police department that did offer blood tests rather than just arresting a person on the spot offered to drive the person back home. That's the first point. The second point is that for alcohol, we have breathalyzers. Yes, alcohol and cannabis are two different chemical components.

The point of a roadside sobriety test is to get impaired drivers off the road.

If they don't have a test that will tell them immediately whether the person is impaired or not then there is no point conducting it.

That's the problem. At the moment, there is no simple test. As a result, many have been arrested based on a false behavioural test. The closest thing to a reliable test for pot is a blood test. But of course all the cop can do then is to take the blood, let the person go, bring the blood to the lab, and then get it tested. Unlike with a breathalyzer test, the results can't come in so soon.

If there is no specific test how do we know there is a specific problem ? Are there any comprehensive studies on marijuana and driving impairment?

The problem is too many innocents getting arrested by cops using an unreliable behavioural test.

I think that traces of pot remain in your blood for 30 days. Not enough to claim impairment, but enough to put you on a neighbourhood watch list.

The simplest road side test for drug impairment is to have the driver read a few of White_Unifier's CC posts. If they understand the logic, lock em up.

Been driving for a long time. Never heard of anyone getting arrested for suspected weed smoking.

Do cops use weed as an excuse to hassle people?

Of course some do.
