How the #metoo movement/ Black Lives Matter...etc...Created Fake News

Broadcasters now are afraid to stand up and say what everyone is saying in the coffee shops, lest they get fired for offending some group. So we really are left with fake/ disingenuous news.

That Virginia candidate dressed up as a rapper in black face to attend a party when he was 19 years old...decades ago. Who cares?

Where is the voice of reason in the media? Where has the heartfelt truth gone?

I believe these movements I mentioned in my Header have contributed greatly to the obfuscation of information. Subtlety, nuance and context has been replaced by 'the gotcha mentality'.

We've made great strides over the last few decades...access to information...women's rights...anti-bullying...gay rights...mental health awareness...etc.

But unfortunately, the politically correct baggage...of language and actions has followed right behind.

Thoughts?

Open the security cameras to members with a paid subscription and they can monitor all the places if they like. Be the quietest coffee room on the planet. (bit like this place)

The biggest problem is the media now seems to be controlled by people with no sense of reality. The best thing would be to ignore the PC crowd that gets outraged at every little thing. Or instead of kowtowing to them laugh at them and give them a big bottle of tryactin.

Is it not a sad commentary that we now have to get the real news from late night comedians like Bill Maher...etc? The truth in the media can only be told now if it is framed in a campy, humorous fashion.

CBC gave me a good laugh when I accidentally happened to land on their channel yesterday. They were right in the middle of one of their self-promoting spiels proudly declaiming that they tell both sides of every story. Just for more laughs I spent the next couple of hours listening to their version of the news. Amidst the plethora of stories about FNs- one-sided; unfounded me2 claims - one-sided and other such fluff, there was not one single story that actually bothered to get an opinion from anyone not affiliated with the person or story being told. So much for balanced reporting.

To CBC way of thinking they got both sides that support them. THe self identified victim and all the parasites that live off victimization.

All I know is if I had to pay now for all the sins of the past, I may as well end it now!! It's totally absurd and ridiculous how one now has to account for an action/word taken/said 30 years ago! I know I am not the same person I was then and, hopefully, I have become and continue to become a better person now.

HH you are correct when you said that we've come a long way but to the PC crowd, it doesn't matter.

It would be fun but very time consuming to dig into the background of everyone in the PC crowd that makes an outrageous complaint about something someone said/did 20 years ago and see what they were up to at that time and make it public.
