very interesting results so far. It seems we have no extremists (or none willing to take the test and own up to it) but a very wide spread, tending to the left.

Maybe it's a tendancy of the test itself.

The 6 page questionaire is probably scored something like this. If you strongly agree with abortion then it moves you 2 grid lines down. If you strongly agree with capital punishment (eye for an eye) it moves you two grid lines up. The next person strongly disagrees with abortion and strongly disagrees with capital punishment, moving equally in opposite directions. Both end up at the same grid score but have completely different values/political views.

i was follwing the results of the poll. i'd say you're not an extremeist until you reach the extremes. ie 1 or 10. i see no 1s on the poll. does that mean Tom G didnt vote? or translated his -9 to a 2?

I liked the "balanced" segue...

I was balanced once....

I wouldn't be so paranoid if everyone wasn't out to get me....

I posted about a half dozen political quizes somewhere in here.

I think its more than quizes, more like analysis.

I vote 6 on that pool.

I just did it again:
Economic Left/Right: 0.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.10

These shortie - made for the internet forums kind of quizzes - do show us....

How truly empty some polls actually are.

If you consider the individual differences in each of the responders there would have to be at least 100 degrees of variance and certainly with the "four answers only" quiz....we all appear the same because none of us are so far from civilized society we would fall off any chart presented here.

An indepth questioning of personality and traits and "leanings" are far more complicated and yet we continue to read them in the media all the time as if they are based on fact.

They are the prime filler in empty space/air to get peoples' attention and certainly do not tell anything
close to the reality of a group-think.

Besides it's comforting to be "with a group" and for most that is the primary motivator in answer selection, unless a hot button question pops up and then you may see a spark of truth flare up.

Was there a question about capital punishment (yes or no)..... on the quiz? That's a flamer. Or a question on abortion rights. Another hot diggety dang.

I can't access the political quiz except for page one so can't replicate the questions now... but look how we are all cuddled towards the center of the 1-10 extreme to moderate list.....that's a public answer.

Private answers tend to be more forthright.

I've administered the MMPI and Simon-Binet Weschlers (my spelling is terrible)..lots of tests...

Most of it's of little value as predicter of response/behavior. Impulsivity and episodic imbalances are (an opinion here..) increasing across the demographic. If a condition or a situation doesn't exist to "explain" some behaviour, we'll create one to fill the gap...

these answers are private in the sense that no-one knows who did which vote very easily. The test isnt too bad since those who have mentioned what they estimated as well as their score seem to be pretty close.
