The reason for the one-day jolt was Israel's announcement of their intent to bomb Iran's reactors. As a side note, we have been down this road before. Israel bombed Iraq's reactor complex under the justification that Iraq was building nuclear weapons underneath it (the way Israel is known to do under Dimona). But following the invasion and conquest of Iraq (based on a lie that Saddam had nuclear weapons) the ruins of the Iraqi reactor proved it was just a power station. No material or tools consistent with Israel's claim of a weapons factory were ever found. Yet the US Government wants to go along with Israel's same stupid claims about Iran.

In praise of CO2
Their 2004 study, and other more recent ones, point to the warming of the planet and the presence of CO2, a gas indispensable to plant life. CO2 is nature's fertilizer, bathing the biota with its life-giving nutrients. Plants take the carbon from CO2 to bulk themselves up -- carbon is the building block of life -- and release the oxygen, which along with the plants, then sustain animal life. As summarized in a report last month, released along with a petition signed by 32,000 U. S. scientists who vouched for the benefits of CO2: "Higher CO2 enables plants to grow faster and larger and to live in drier climates. Plants provide food for animals, which are thereby also enhanced. The extent and diversity of plant and animal life have both increased substantially during the past half-century."

US missile strike kills one in S Waziristan

Apparently for the US, there is no such thing as "sovereignty" when it comes to Pakistani airspace.
Of course, what these attacks will do is to weaken an already shaky truce between the Pakistani government and its own militants in this region. Perhaps this precisely the US's intent here.

So now it's going to be Afghanis (accompanied by US and NATO troops) involved in cross-border attacks into Pakistan.
What this will do will be to further weaken the Pakistani government's truce with Pakistani militants, and create further chaos in the region.
Who benefits from this chaos? The US, which would love nothing better than the opening up of another front on the Pakistani/Iranian border for an attack against Iran.
It appears that Karzai just got his "marching orders" on this one from Washington.

And I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry, reading this.
Ben Laden "assumed room temperature" some years ago, and both the US and British intelligence agencies know this full well.
So what do you think they're going to do, find someone who looks like Bin Laden to arrest, throw in jail, and ultimately assassinate just so that some people might actually think they really caught the guy? If Washington and London politicians really think this song and dance will be believed by the thinking public, they are absolutely, completely wrong!
