How far would you go to convince someone in your family to Quit Smoking?

So don't let them smoke around you. That's pretty simple. I don't know a single person who has had to fight in the last 10 years to keep someone from smoking on them.

because the smoke sticks to everything, the walls. the floor, the furniture, clothing.. you can't avoid it completely.

So don't let them smoke in your house, and don't go their house. The smell of smoke on their clothes isn't going to hurt you. Honestly, you're being a bit hysterical about it if you won't allow a loved one near your kids because they smoke. BTW, never hang around a welder if that's the case, or anyone who works in the oil patch, or Anna's hubby, he's the worst... firemen... their whole job is smoke, and nasty toxic smoke to boot. Don't sit around a camp fire. And for the love of god, don't drive a car. And make darn sure your kids enver live within a 15 city block radius of a gas station btw... that's a huge cancer risk that your smoky smelling mom could never come even remotely close to equalling.

You must have a fun life avoiding smokers and the places smokers go (like outdoors). :D

oh come on.. stop trying to use other examples. :violent1:

there is one difference between Cars and Cigarettes.

Cars they can improve, and they're going to be Hydrogen and Electric soon anyways.

you can't make Cigarettes healthy for you, no matter what you try to do.

and for the record, I plan to live on an acreage.. far away from everything! :glasses7:

like I've said, don't let someone smoke around you. I have never heard of someone allergic to smoke to such a degree that smelling it on someone could make them sick, especially since it's not a real allergy...

... or be hysterical and lose your loved ones, make your kids lose their loved ones... feel free. lol.

well no.

But I'm concerned for my health.. I'd rather have the ability to keep it far away from my house and my kids as possible.. I don't like to smell smoke on people's jackets, shirts, pants.. car, house, furniture..

They would already undoubtedly have gas masks for when they are walking down a public street, so they may just as well put it back on when in the company of smokers.

This discussion is turning into a bit of a "p*ssing contest". Reasonable people can easily find ways of avoiding 99% of cigarette smoke without being obnoxious or overbearing.

I don't like the smell of, or the carcinogenic effects of, cologne. But I'm not about to stop letting my kids hug their grandpa because of it.

While I understand your desire to see her quit, you are essentially saying that you would keep your kids from seeing her because you don't like the way she smells. I hope you can come to realize that your intense attitude about it will be just as unpardonable in her mind, the mind of an addict (and thus have no effect on her quitting), as it is in my mind, the mind of a non-smoker who never let anyone smoke around my kids, in my house, or in my vehicle.

I guess if you insist on "splitting hairs", I suppose there is a subtle difference.:lol:
lol I think so. I like the smell of pine and cedar. Tobacco smoke just stinks (unless it's some of those aromatic pipe tobaccos).

I like the smell of pipe tobacco and sweet cigar smoke. But I'm not stupid enough to sit and inhale it stright out of the pipe or cigar. lol.
