You know, I was pondering this comment of yours further. I hope I haven't given the impression that people are awful.

You've been pretty busy in here this morning sanctus, considering it's a Sunday and you're a priest. Don't you have a gig this morning? ;-)

No, you haven't given the impression that you think people are awful, at least not to me, What you *have* given is the message that the church's official opinion is that we're all awful underneath. Fr. Vaillancourt was pretty clear about that in the citation you started this thread with, writing about the infinite sin that burdens us all. That's what the notions of original sin and atonement seem to be all about. I too find the same kind of loneliness and angst you do in many people, and I'm sure it's one of the reasons so many turn to various forms of spirituality. They're looking for something, without really knowing what it is, and I think most of them never find it. I can't think of any other possible explanation for the depressingly high divorce rate. Very sad.

t somebody tell me this while I was alive on earth?[/font][/b]

aj, dude, i dont get what youre yacking about here? there was a good question though, like if the church was first, and the bible didnt get put out till later, are those first christians going to hell because they didnt have a bible?
Maple luv, the bible has the answer to all our questions, just need to dig in and find them.

I’ll try to make it as short as I can. It is difficult to explain things when some are not well versed in the bible.
Sort of like a college professor teaching a course to a 1st grader. That type of comparison.

Anyways, dear your question is: “like if the church was first, and the bible didnt get put out till later, are those first christians going to hell because they didnt have a bible?”

The answer in one word: NO! No body is going to hell!!!!!!!!

Wait folks, don’t condemn me yet for that statement, until you hear me out, you to brother Sanctus.

The seven day creation comes into play in my explanation. The beginning of humanity is NOT, 6,000 years old, but longer.

Meaning that, the second Adam had an appointed time in this scenario, in order to remedy the situation which caused the fall of man in the first place.

So, in order for God to “re-create” a new heaven and a new earth, He split the 7 day week in half, and sent His Son at the middle of that week to earth on that particular mission.

I have to give you this verse which states that fact found in the book of Daniel: Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for “one week”: and in the midst(middle)of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Underling and parenthesis added to that verse as emphasis.

Splitting the week only means that God used the same original creation story to construct His second creation, but this time, was not a physical creation but a heavenly creation, or a Spiritual one. That is why Jesus is considered a second Adam.

From the beginning, meaning, the start of the first Adam, a soul was created to pro-create it’s self into what is now the whole of humanity.

And the whole of Humanity was barred from Heaven as portrayed by the Angel kicking them out of the garden, into what we call hell on earth.(Separated from God)

Well, God being the loving Father that He is, would not let His creatures be lost forever, so He provides a way for His critters to come back to Him.

Enter: Jesus in the middle of the week, for explanation purposes, and something that we humans can comprehend, God uses the week.

From the first day to the 6th day, Jesus does His creating, and then He rests on the 7th day, just as like the first creation story reads.

Trust me, there are many more details in the bible to confirm all that I am saying, so I am trying to make it as simple as I can.

By Jesus re-creating a new heaven and a new earth, is “GOOD NEWS” to mankind.

Now there is salvation from this hellish environment and salvation for all time with God after we leave this place.

So, in answer to you’re your question again, no, nobody is going to be eternally separated from God! Call it hell if you want, but hell we know, for if we don’t live right, we create our own living hell, and become alienated from God’s blessings to boot.

Every soul that ever lived will at one point or another be saved for eternity. “Wow! Another wacky phrase AJ is using”. “That is incredible”, some are going to say, “Where does this guy get off saying all that?”

You see, our stay here is for our benefit, that by being here we learn discipline by suffering, and by suffering, we learn to be as like God, in His image.

Jesus suffered and learned obedience, and by suffering, demonstrated who God is, and that God is love.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

That verse then is the KEY to understanding. If you can comprehend what that means in your life, you too will know who God really is, and not what Humans think He is.

Now, today, is the time to believe in Him as dictated by the bible so that we may enter in to that heavenly kingdom while yet being alive in the flesh.

Sorry, but this is the end of my explanation with one last verse: Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Thank you for being patient with me on this explanation, and that God may open everybody’s eyes to see His wonderful grace, mercy and compassion for us who are in the midst of hell, trying and learning to live right.

That's a pretty good perception of life, there Dexter.

A marriage is between two opposites. Originally, God and clay, creating a living soul.
Unfortunately, there was a divorce there to. (Called death)

But wait! There is also a remarriage! Back to the original status! IN Jesus!
Called, life.

“He” does respect you! And: Gives you every right to your own mind!

As for sucking up:Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

I’d bet you would read into that verse: “See” your He is an angry God!”

He is not "my" He, he is yours.

Or: can you give me a proper rendering of that same verse?
I can only guess the meaning, but I don't put my trust in anyone but myself,
and those around me, and others who I have come to like and trust, and never
in anything that is "illusional" or "invisible" or a "fantasy", which I truly believe
your god is.

thats very sad. i think youre right though. even in high school people are so lonely that they just wanna reach out to other people all the time, sometimes in strange ways. its like you are in a room full of people but nobody gets you, you know what i mean?

by the way, was offline for a few days cos i got grounded from the computer. i also have to admit i jumped my age up to 18 when actually im only going to be turning 17 tomorrow.sorry but i thought nobody would take me seriously if i wasnt eighteen. allot of old people totally ignore you if they think youre just a kid.
Happy B-day, sweet Maple. :D:eek:ccasion6: :flower: :love9: :eek:ccasion7:  :blob7: :eek:ccasion8: :color: :blob8: :hello1: :toothy10: :eek:ccasion9:

You know, I was pondering this comment of yours further. I hope I haven't given the impression that people are awful. I don't find that at all. What I do find is an incredible level of lonliness in most people, a deep emptiness that they fill with all sorts of stupid things only to end up feeling more lonely then when they began. It is very sad sometimes, especially since most of us are surrounded by people and still, there is this emptiness, this lonliness that so permeates so many peoples' souls.

When I first came on this thread I did feel your were accusing us all of being worse than awful and that you placed yourself above others because you were a priest. In your posts lately you are the kind of priest that I always believed would win more hearts and minds for the church. I agree that a lot of people fill their lonely souls with stupid things but to me the worse are the elderly and the children. Everyone need God in their souls (per say) but I find alot of elderly people are seemingly religious are still lonely. Could this be that their religious belief is due to fear drummed into them when they were young? I ask this question because there is an elderly lady (over 85) that I take out for coffee at least once a week. Her husband died 25 yrs ago, no children, one sister died and one sister really far away. We had her over for Christmas supper and try to include her in family events. What else can I do to help her, do you have any ideas?
