Hey,
Two shut-outs in two consecutive games isn't bad. Most of their players are healthy again and they looked pretty good last night. As usual Luongo was great in goal.

Naslund seems to be playing well now too. If all cylinders are firing they can be a great team...

You're right Ton

When the team is short a few players I think the coach over-plays the big guns and wears them out. When they are all healthy and Naslund is on his game they are a pretty decent team.

Yeah they got a point out of it. I would rather see games decided by a single, twenty minute, sudden death overtime period. I hate the shoot outs. I don't see why a regular season game can't end in a tie.

Good game with Calgary tonight. I'm very impressed with the twins this year, as they have
raised their game another notch. They are sharper and tougher than last year, and some
of their moves are down right mind boggling. Maybe they will play much better in playoffs this
year than last, which I'm sure is their intent.
I like the young guys who came up from Manitoba, especially Mason Raymond, hope they stay.
Cook is a total write off.

When we can beat Calgary without Ohlund and Kesler, it tells me we have some depth and
courage to step up and get the job done.

I wonder if Nonis will make any deals in the next couple of months, I think he owes it to
Luongo to find one more top notch forward to give the team a little more scoring, even
though they are finding ways to win, we still don't have quite enough in that department.

Good post Talloola. That was an amazing goal by a Sedin (not sure which), the spinnerama backhand.

If this team could score 3 to 4 goals consistently they'd never lose. Whether it be by trade or some guys stepping up, increased scoring production would put some fear into the opposition.

Just watched canucks first pre season game, about half of the team played in edmonton,
and edmonton had a pretty good team on the ice. Started slow for the canucks, but cory
Schneider kept them in it for the first period. Canucks improved throughout the game,
and I was impressed with some of the young guys, Krog, Raymond, Welwood, and others.
They play again tomorrow in Vancouver against Edmonton again. different team tomorrow
for both sides.
There will be 7 pre season games.

Watched second pre season game last night. I am happy about many players, Yanic Hannson looks real good, and Grabner, and others, but didn't like Dimitra's game at all,
hope it's just pre season rustiness, as he made passing errors, was too methodical, and
looked like he doesn't have enough respect for the opposition, so he better get over that
real quick. Luongo looked great.

We play San Jose then anaheim on the week end, sat. and sun. 'away', then they will
be cutting the team down, and sending quite a few players to manitoba, or out right releases.

Vancouver Canucks - Preview: Vancouver @ Anaheim - 09/28/2008

The Canucks are undefeated through three preseason games as they visit Anaheim to play the Ducks, who are 2-1 in their three preseason games after defeating the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday night.

Vancouver is dressing a lineup that fans have waited all summer to see featuring Daniel and Henrik Sedin on a line with new Canuck, Steve Bernier, who was acquired this summer from Buffalo.

Bernier will debut as the winger with the Twins after playing with Pavol Demitra and Cody Hodgson in his last preseason outing.

Another line to watch is one featuring two of the Canucks most recent first round picks, Hodgson (2008 and Michael Grabner (2006). The duo form an explosive offensive threat if the right chemistry can be formed in Anaheim. The two may not have a lot of time and with all the eyes of the organization watching, there is pressure to make the most of their ice time Sunday night.

Niether Chris Pronger nor Scott Niedermayer dressed for the Ducks Saturday night, so it is expected the duo will play against the Canucks when the team returns home for their fourth preseason game.

Pronger has appeared in just one game this year, recording an assist, while Niedermayer has played two and also has a lone assist.

The Canucks were 3-1 against the Ducks in the regular season last year and hope to kick off their campaign against Anaheim with a win and try to extend their winning ways to four games.

Catch the game live on Canucks.com tonight starting at 5:00pm PST.

There are so many fighting for the same spot. That is a good thing. Grabner will
be the first to be called up I think, depending on position of course. Jaffrey has
been put on waivers as well, along with someone else. It's obvious that Yannic
Hannson will make this team, he has had a great camp.
Lineup on wednesday against Calgary will be interesting, as now they are starting
to close in on a starting lineup for regular season.

I think it's a mistake, Luongo had a less than stellar year last season and this added pressure won't help. Just goes to show what kind of leadership they have in their forwards and D.

Vancouver will suck this year and the Sedins will be gone before the trade deadline.

I love this decision, I think it is brilliant. No one dreamed that they could get around
the ruling re; no goalies as captains, but it means he can't wear the C. Just a formality
on the ice anyway. The real captaining goes on in the dressing room, during practices,
etc. He is the obvious leader of this team, they all look up to him, and I think it is a
super decision. There will be 3 'A's , Ohlund, Mitchell and Kesler, who will deal with the
on ice stuff. Luongo's interview today showed how proud he is to accept this position,
they said he accepted immediately. He has known about it for about two weeks, along
with the coaches and g.m.

New Vancouver Canuck captain Roberto Luongo will make his scheduled pre-season start against the Calgary Flames tonight at GM Place but he won't face former Canuck star Todd Bertuzzi.

Luongo, who suffered a minor groin strain in practice Tuesday, pronounced himself "good to go" following some dryland work.

Very entertaining game tonight, I know it's pre season, but good for confidence. Vineault
will have quite a time sorting out the last few players to either stay or be sent down.
I think Hannson cemented his position tonight, great game for him, and that line, Hannson, Burrows, Kesler looked real good together.
Our captain had a great game, lots of shots on him, with all the penalties that canucks took in the last period, but he was outshone for first star by Mason Raymond, who flew around the ice, looking like a man with a purpose. He could have had a couple of more
goals, but Kiprisoff saved them, which is surprising, as Kipper had a poor game, resulting
in so many goals for Canucks.
I think Wellwood has earned a spot, with his high quality offense, maybe he won't play
steady every shift, but he will be needed throughout the game, as he has great hands, and
sees the ice very well, makes lovely passes, and must start the regular season on the team.

We play San Jose tomorrow at 7 GM Place, and the twins and bernier, (who I forgot all
about tonight because our guys were having such a good game), will be playing.

They still have to decide which 'energy' guys will be staying as well, Cowan, Brown, Hortichek, etc.
Two more pre season games to go, last one Sunday against Anaheim, at GM Place.

Vancouver Canucks - Preview: San Jose @ Vancouver - 10/02/2008

San Jose @ Canucks - 10/02/2008

Tickets still available to preseason home games vs. San Jose and Anaheim.

CHECK GAME & TICKET AVAILABILITY Watch the game live on Canucks.com starting 7:00pm PST and live interviews from the Canucks dressing room and Alain Vigneault's press conference following the game.

They say preseason doesn't mean anything but don't tell that to the Canucks, who are undefeated so far in the preseason after five games with two remaining on their schedule.

While the games aren't worth points or standings, the wins don't hurt and going into the regular season with some confidence can only be encouraging, especially after a summer of change and many skeptics.

Roberto Luongo played in his first full game Wednesday night when he backstopped the Canucks to a convincing 6-1 win over the visiting Calgary Flames.

The newly named Canucks' captain made an impressive 35 saves, allowing just the one goal on the likes on Jarome Iginla and Dion Phaneuf, who was silenced to just one assist by Phaneuf and a -2 rating for Iginla. He improves his GAA to 0.90, allowing just two goals on 64 shots.

Curtis Sanford will likely be between the pipes tonight for the Canucks as they aim for their sixth straight of the preseason.

Sanford went the distance for the Canucks in Anaheim Sunday night as he led the Canucks to a 5-4 shootout win over the Ducks. Sandford made four saves on five Ducks players including saves on Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry, and Kent Huskins.

Jannik Hansen continues to impress and standout throughout training camp and the preseason with a two-goal effort against the Flames and finishing a +3 skating on a line with dynamic duo, Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows.
