vancover definitely could have played much better hockey tonight, no doubt about it. Giving up that goal in the first minute of game time, i think had a small affect on the performance they showed out on the ice.
Well they need to rest up for sundays game, and i'm hoping to see a win!!

Canucks from the third period on were really grinding it out. The Sedins owned the puck. That new rookie Hanson looked great. Luongo good again. Good hard fought win.

2-1 Vancouver in OT.

Yeah the Sedins looked really good tonight. Another thing the Sedins were doing was hitting and giving Dallas back some of their own medicine.

Where in the hell have they been keeping Hanson? I doubt if he'll go back down to the minors now. It's good to have all these young legs around.

Naslund has really stepped it up since the end of the regular season. He wasn't quite as physical tonight, but he was diving around to clear the puck.

Hanson was great. Smart plays and he wasn't rushing things at all. Very steady considering these are his first NHL games.

The twins are pretty tough on the boards. About Hansen, I was thinking the same thing. He looked as good as most out there. He plays with confidence, and he skates like crazy.

I also really liked the pinching defense system they had going. It's a game of adjustments. The first game (regular time) the Stars were feeding the guy on the boards and controlling the puck out from him. Tonight, especially the last half, the defensemen didn't allow it. At times they pinned the Stars in their own end for lengthy shifts. When the announcer said Vigneault didn't want the Sedins out for a defensive situation Harry Neale said something like - who cares if they can play defense, they always have the puck.

Now the Stars will see that and make their own adjustments. Nevertheless I hope the Canucks keep playing that pressure forecheck system. They are a handful when it works.

Naslund has stepped it up. He's playing with some urgency. Real good effort so far.

So good to hear from others on here. Real good game, got better and better as it went along
and your right, the new guy Yannik Hansen is such a pleasant surprise, looks like a keeper to me.
Luongo was his usual self, strong and makes those great saves when needed, and I was so glad
when the victory came, as all the work he did through the game pays off.
The have to give Dallas a reason to get out of their comfort zone, and they did that, and for a
change Dallas looked out of sorts and wasn't skating around making perfect passes, and
hogging the puck.
Even if we drop the next game, we will go home with a split, so now the pressure is on Dallas.
Hard work, good team play, and it payed off.
Our defense played awsome tonight, everyone was solid.

I couldn't believe they've been keeping Hanson down in the minors. He didn't look out of place at all.

Naslund was getting angry about some of the calls tonight and he was really in the game. The whole team seemed to turn around in the third period.

We mentioned that too, Hansens been playing in Manitoba all year, surely he has caught the
eye of 'someone'. I love the way Naslund is playing, he has definitely risen his game, and is
showing all of us how to play playoff hockey. Love the way the Twins have given their game
a boost too, skating harder, fighting for the puck harder, and grittier, good for them, even though
they aren't doing much scoring, they are giving the other team fits.

The way they can keep posession of the puck down low, it's only a matter of time until they get on the score sheet.

There is really only one fella I'm not keen on, Sopel...

I agree with you about Sopel, I was surprised that he was back in the lineup last night, I
guess it's just his age and experience, but he looked very unsure of himself at times.

Sopel is not their best defenceman but nor is he the worst. One of Sopel's best qualities is his great shot from the point. In game 2 Dallas had found a defence for the twin's cycling but that kind of ran out by the third period. I don't know what the shots on goal were, but the Canucks must have outshot Dallas in the third by a good margin.

Sopel was brought in to be the fifth D man, and he does have a good shot from the
point, but his foot speed isn't too good, but he is good when in his own end, but looks
shaky through the neutral zone, and if he coughs up the puck, he is too slow to catch
them.
We outshot Dallas 15 to 4 in the last period last night, great period for Canucks.

Sopel's just in it for the chicks.

ha , you mean the 'puck bunnies' who are waiting in the wings? He is married with
a couple of kids, that's why his back went out, he was bending down to pick up a cracker
for his kid, and he couldn't stand up again, caused him to miss a couple of games.

Too bad the game wasn't on the telly tonight, I've listened to the last period on NHL radio. Mitchell saved a puck on the line, sounds excruciating when you can't see what's going on. And time expires, 'Nucks win. 3 games to 1, win it at home! Linden got the gfame winner, one goal back of Bure for all-time playoff goals in Vancouver. Sounded like he had a great shift.

The game was on CBC 251 on Express Vu, great game, Canucks played good for 60 minutes
0-0 till last period. I can't pick a first star, there were lots of good players, maybe Willie Mitchell really stood out, played awsome. Saved a potential goal, right on the line.
Trevor Linden had a good game, scored the winner. Everybody else was good, could name them all, maybe one bad play by Marcus Naslund, as he gave the puck away for their goal.
Back home now, Thursday, so it could be over after next game, but that is very far away at
the moment, as these games are so close and hard fought, so anything can happen

I think canucks is a bad name. It gives my patriotic views towards Canada a stereotype.

Canucks is a good name, just like New York Yankees, shows affection for the team, and the
Vancouver Canucks have had that name on a hockey team since long before they were in the
NHL, as they had a canuck team in the old western hockey league. I used to go to those
games, although I was living in New Westminster, and cheered for the New Westminster Royals.
