the chance of winning any game 1-0 are very very slim, and one thing for all of you canuck fans who
never see anything the 'other' team does, only what the canucks do, or don't do, is watch both sides
of a game, i've harped on that point many times.

and what you said above is just another bit of 'only' what the canucks do.

did you not see how nashville outplayed canucks tonight for two periods.

luongo doesn't care if he gets a shut out or not, he just wants to help his team win, just as all of
his team mates do.

the two sides of the story juan are the canucks and the 'other' team and what they came to do.

if the other team scores 3 goals, there is a very good chance 'they' will win, but tonight for two
periods luongo prevented that from happening, thus helping his team mates get themselves into the
game which they did in the last period, that is what a team is all about helping and supporting
each other, picking each other up, leaning on each other, etc.

he has stated as much for a few games now, just including him in the fact that the team needs to be
better, and that means him too.

he hasn't been the hero, and he hasn't been the goat. get use to it, he has played well all season
thus far, he's not perfect, but he is of great value to the team, if not, he would have been on the
bench tonight.

there are two sides to every game, oh brother, i won't forget that one any time soon. lol

The feeble little point I was trying to make was that people get down on Luongo if he allows a couple goals, when the team could solve the problem by scoring a few more goals. Luongo quite often stops thirty shots but sometimes it's not enough.

it would have sounded great said 'just like that' last night. that was
a very confusing post, with lots of different meanings.

Lets face the facts.. literally. The Canucks often lose low scoring games and he has a terrible save %. He hasn't been all that busy most games, yet has had a tendency to let in goals when they need them stopped the most.

good work by NYR goalie Lundqvist.
rangers needed that win, i think it would have been 3 losses in a row.

the surprise for me tonight, was the poor showing by san jose against pittsburg, I was ready for a
barn burner by two of the best teams in the nhl, and san jose didn't show up.
I lost interest in that game early, went to other games.

oilers beat avalanche 8-2, now that was a surprise, thought those two 'young'
teams would play each other pretty even, avalanche didn't show up.

his last game was excellent, he did keep canucks alive till they decided to wake up and play, so lets
start with 'that' one and see how it goes, ok?

canucks/phoenix, fri. 7:00 p.m.

Last 10: Phoenix 4-4-2; Vancouver 4-3-3

Season series: This is the second of five games between the Phoenix Coyotes and Vancouver Canucks. Antoine Vermette had the shootout winner for Phoenix in a 3-2 win at Jobing.com Arena on Nov. 5.

Big story: The Canucks are aiming for a third consecutive victory. If they can pull it off in regulation, they'll move past the Coyotes into fourth place in the Pacific Division.

Team Scope:

Coyotes: Entering the game Wednesday against the Calgary Flames, goalie Mike Smith trailed only the Canucks' Roberto Luongo with 24 starts. Phoenix coach Dave Tippett elected to give his No. 1 a rare breather on the second night of a back-to-back, but Thomas Greiss (14 saves) had a rough go in a 4-1 loss.

It wasn't all his fault, as a late first-period goal by the Flames deflected in off Coyotes defenseman David Schlemko and another goal hit off Vermette's stick before beating Greiss.

"I didn't think we were too bad tonight, especially for a back-to-back," Schlemko said. "They got two, maybe three fluky ones, but if we come with the same effort on Friday, play a little bit harder, hopefully we'll get a few bounces."

Canucks: This is the start of a five-game homestand for Vancouver, which is looking to improve on a pedestrian 5-5-3 record at Rogers Arena. The Canucks come off a 3-1 win against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, but they lost a key player for the second game in a row.

First it was forward Alexandre Burrows suffering a broken jaw Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes, then defenseman Alexander Edler left in the first period with an apparent leg injury. Veteran Andrew Alberts is expected to take Edler's spot in the lineup. The news Thursday didn't sound particularly promising.

"We got a little [update] this morning but it's the same, he is still being evaluated," assistant coach Glen Gulutzan said. "He is out indefinitely, but still being evaluated by our guys today again."

Who's hot: Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle has goals in consecutive games. Captain Shane Doan has one goal and two assists in the past two games. … Canucks forward Ryan Kesler has consecutive multi-goal games, while defenseman Jason Garrison has back-to-back games with two assists.

Injury report: Phoenix defenseman Zbynek Michalek (lower body) and forward Lauri Korpikoski (upper body) are on injured reserve. … In addition to Edler and Burrows, forward Jordan Schroeder (ankle) is sidelined for Vancouver.

very important game tonight for canucks, they are one point behind phoenix.

It's all my fault, I let my wife watch her program after the second period, so I could no longer keep an eye on them and look what happens in a two minute time frame. -:)

Thank God..........................phew! -:)

I see the Canucks quit shooting in the 3rd..................huge mistake!

If anyone wants my opinion of this game just listen to 'gary vaulk' after game with don taylor,
he said it all.

I hate teams that sit on leads, let the other team come at them, get outshot by lots, it never
works, just lucky higgins came to the rescue in overtime.

first period was a typical tippet coached period, very close checking, diciplined defensive hockey,
but second period was much better, the game became exciting and interesting, and canucks had a bit
of room to actually play hockey, and play they did, they looked good.

third period, yuk.

The Canucks should probably catch more sh*t over that game than most of the ones they lost!

torterella wasn't smiling much during the last period, there is a definite difference between playing good
'two' way hockey, where all players are doing their job on defense, as they should be, OR trying to play
the clock down, and just shooting the puck out of the zone, and sitting back.

canucks have lost quite a few games they deserved to win, and visa versa, just as torterella said the
other day, they played much better during that home stand where they lost a few, just couldn't get the
wins, but they also couldn't score goals, and were trying to win games with only 2 goals scored, that
is a risky way to play.

Well, a win is a win I guess. The Canucks were badly out played and out shot in the third period. Luongo would have been one of the stars if I were picking. Two goals is not a big enough lead to sit on if your goal tender has to stop 35 shots.

For sure, I've seen four goal leads evaporate in a Hollywood minute.

I was happy to see andrew alberts have a good game, gave out quite a few 'good' passes,
and looked pretty solid.

he hasn't seen the ice for a long time, and i remember his last game where he only played a
few minutes, made a mistake, and that was it for torterella, we haven't seen him since.
he practices faithfully just waiting for a chance, well he got it last night, now he will
get another one, good for him.

I didn't know that Alberts was still alive!

thats funny, but yes, I definitely forgot all about him, its been that long.

Vancouver's two goal lead was gone in two minutes and twenty one seconds. I wasn't looking forward to the overtime but Higgins fixed that fairly quickly.

Yeah, but by then the damage was done...................the opponent got one point that could haunt them down the road.
