Someone who was paranoid might want to think that the Canucks defense was being targeted. God, Ballard,
Edler, Hamhuis, Now Bieksa,
Other teams might give away a defenseman, in exchange for a good forward. I can't think of a forward I would
trade with out seriously hurting the team.

no, I don't want to see that happen either, and the rumour trade isn't happening, and if there was
anything to it, carolina probably wanted too much for Ian White, defenceman, and gillis would not
oblige them, so that's good.

ballard and hamhuis will probably be back somewhere in the two week range, and even if canucks
lose a few, or even play 500 for a while, they will still be fine.

canucks battled pretty good tonight, but a couple of mistakes causing a couple of goals put them
behind, THEN nashville being one of the stingiest and best defensive teams in the league made
it very hard to catch up.

Nashville are the best team in the NHL for 'goals against', with canucks second,
behind them.

Ehrhoff made a few mistakes tonight, it looked to me like he was trying to do too much, feeling
the pressure of being one of the senior defencemen, he'll have to relax and just play his game,
and not worry about it, just do what he does best.

The sedin line is scary defensively, the twins don't check that well in our
own end, and
nashville had lots of scoring chances when they were on the ice.

Nashville check very efficiently and close, and with the defense canucks have our forward have to
play deep in our end to make sure they help out.

Canucks had a few chances, had over 30 shots, but not that many dangerous scoring chances.
I thought our 2nd and 3rd lines played very well tonight.

pekka rinne in goal is one of the best

One of their goalies is 6'5", and the other is 6'6".

good for canucks that philly lost last night, keeps them 2 points behind in league points,
but detroit got their win, and they are now 5 points back of canucks.

canucks play dallas tonight, keep fingers crossed.

it wasn't our new guys who stumbled last game, but ehrhoff and rome, who didn't have their
usual solid game, so hopefully tonight they will be better.

I guess the ideal size for a goalie would be four feet high and six feet wide:smile:

I agree with you about the Sedins. They don't always back check like they should.

It's funny, Vancouver is the highest scoring team in the league but some games they just can't get
a goal to save their necks. The Canucks don't seem to do well against the clutchy grabby teams
like Nashville.

yeah, lots of teams have trouble scoring on them, hence their first place stats on goals against.

I hear hamhuis has been given clearance to practice and play, he will possibly be back on Tuesday.
Ballard, not so close.

Edmonton has 3 wins in a row, didn't watch their game today,( wanted to get out in the beautiful
sunsine and walk), they beat atlanta.
I see they put sheldon souray on 'return waivers' hoping some team will pick him up, then his
contract is split in half, edmonton paying half, other team the other half.
Haven't heard anything about it since, I wonder if anyone wants him.

Hope sedins can get their pizzaz back starting tonight, they have been in a funk recently, although
daniel did score last game.
we need them scoring, I notice many teams have ramped up their games, looking more like playoff
hockey, and sedins need to do the same, I have noticed them sitting on their 'butts' too much
recently, as players are hitting them, and it seems they pause hoping for penalty call, but they
aren't penalties, just body checks, so come on you guys, lets go, we need the next 'gear'.
They need to make more plays off the rush instead of those cycling drills all the time, teams
have wised up and stop those cycles often now, sometimes is OK, but not all the time.

Some good western conference games tonight, standings will be changing again, I
update it after every game now.
Watch for St. Louis to make a move, they have just acquired two good players from
colorado, and they are reasonably healthy, and have games in hand, could be a
dark horse coming down he stretch.

I feel very excited about canucks game tonight. Sedins came alive, scored off the rush,
(guess they got the memo lol), and showed all of us they haven't forgotton how to play
with emotion and energy.

the win was important, stops them from having two losses in a row, and keeps them pulling
ahead as league leaders.

the young guys played great, shows the depth of the canuck team, as they are getting valuable
playing experience up on the big team, and when they do come to stay they will do it quite
seamlessly and more comfortably.

kesler had a great game, without a goal, he certainly deserved to score after all the work
and efforts he put forth.

St. Louis tromped all over anaheim tonight, 9-3

Colorado lost again

l.a. lost

phoenix beat nashville

canucks play montreal on tuesday.

outdoor game tomorrow, will be great, I remember the first one in edmonton,
the first outdoor game I'd ever seen, loved it.

the ones in the u.s. are good, but they are done solely to excite the american
audience, and keep them interested, BUT this one is truly canadian, the way it
should be.

.

The Sedins Moved their game up a few notches last night at both ends of the rink.
Daniel simply overpowered the defenseman and got off a shot that beat
the goalie for the Canuck's first goal

The key to tonight's game was shear effort. Torres was hitting at every opportunity
and he got a couple goals as well.

Ryan Kessler didn't get a goal but he did everything but score.

We needn't have worried about the young defensemen. They might have made a
few mistakes but generally they did a good job. The Canuck's depth really showed
last night.

Yes that's the Best News the club could have.

It is so healthy to have such competent players in the AHL, and it also makes the big
team work that much harder, because they know there are players just itching to take
their jobs, if they dont 'show' up to play each and every game.

And also, as the situation is right now, the injuries are so much easier to cope with
when the fill-ins can do the job.

yeah, rangers were winning for a while, but faded. oh well, they'll keep canucks on their toes,
can't let up at all.

detroit are on the move too, just 5 back again, with a game in hand.

canuck's stuffing blew out of them in the first period, bad start, could have been
4-0, but thanks to luongo he kept them at 2, and they came back strong
played a good game, but carey price stoned them, as he does with many teams.

montreal played well, many 'small fast' players, and they have been embarrassed on this western
swing, so this was their chance to redeem themselves, which they did, they do
have cammalleri back now, their best scorer, so they should do much better
moving forward.

montreal went into full shut down mode toward the end of the game, check, check and check some
more, just holding canucks off, it worked, gave them the win.

lots of montreal fans at rogers arena, wonder how many canuck season ticket holders 'sold' their
tickets to montreal fans, then stayed home, guess that makes a pretty good profit.

St. Louis on Thursday.

st. louis tonight. I hope canucks have figured out how to play against this team, as they have
the 'key' to shutting down the sedins, and once that is done, it is much harder for canucks to
play offence.

as good as the sedins are, they have to have a plan for these kinds of teams who defend against
them very well, they have to change their game, and rise to a new level, just as they will during
playoffs, as all teams will target them, and sometimes they just sag under the pressure. They
are very talented, but need to be innovative from now till the end of the year, to catch teams by
surprise, and do things that are not expected.

st. louis also have their two new players brought in from the trade with colorado, who are very
good players, not sure why colorado agreed to such a trade, seems kind of 'stupid' to me.

Canucks need a win tonight to stay ahead in the league, philly are playing the islanders, and they
should beat them, but islanders are playing much better of late. Detroit are playing dallas, and
they should beat dallas too, but game must be played first, but dallas are playing poorly right now,
and can't seem to beat any team.

if philly win they will be one point ahead of us, unless we win too, and detroit will be only 3
behind us, unless we win too.

Agreed and they did some of that tonight (arguably invalidated by stupid penalties).

Overall a decent effort against a team who is strong but not always smart.

interesting, but tense game tonight, canucks had a great first period, st. louis had a great second

period, a nice timely goal in the third by canucks, and a hard fought game till the final bell.

schneider played great, I sure hate the thoughts of losing him to another team, but not sure what

will happen with him, he is a starter, not a back up, in reality, but as time goes by I am liking

him more and more, and he is much younger than luongo, but luongo's contract is much longer than

him, so not sure how that will play out.

philly jumped in front of us for a very short time, but canucks are ahead by 1 again.

detroit lost to dallas, so thanks to them for keeping detroit 7 behind canucks.

'boston on saturday', and this will be another very tough game, NO game will be easy, and this is
actually good, going down the stretch, as this type of play keeps a team sharp and aware, and prepared
to play their best, as they know if they don't, it will be a loss.
canucks have to be ready for 'tim thomas', he doesn't let many pucks past him.

sitting on top with no push back from other teams is just a 'trap' for being ousted early in the
playoffs, it is so hard to get momentum when you don't have to scrap and scrape and fight for every
goal.

The western conference, as you know is full of tied numbers. I just want to mention, in case
some of you don't know or have forgotton, the new rule put in this season is:

at the end of the season, after all teams have played same number of games, ties are broken by
the most wins, 'EXCLUDING SHOOT OUT WINS'.
