hi everyone.

Just want to let you all know that I am going to discontinue my hockey reports.
I do enjoy it, but most of the time I am talking to myself, so, I can do that
anywhere.;-)

If anyone wants to post hockey info/chat at any time, I will drop in.

GO CANUCKS GO

I am sorry to hear that, Talloola.:-( I enjoyed reading your posts. I hope this doesn't mean you are leaving altogether or curtailing your time in the forums generally.8O

The Canucks lost 3-0 last night to Edmonton. Looks like they lost their scoring touch that game!

I'm still around, maybe not as much as usual.
Canucks looked slow last night, maybe too many days off, and that first goal
that sanford let in was a real 'bummer' to start the game.
Sedins were very quiet, but then we had so many penalties they had less ice
time as usual.
I'm sure vineault was a little 'hot' after game last night.
Hope we do better tonight against florida, as they are a very simlar team as
edmonton, young and very fast, but like it wide open, we'll have to put a stop
to that kind of play, and we need the win.

The Canucks played the Florida Panthers tonight in a game that was at least a bit of an improvement over most of the recent games. The Canucks spotted the Panthers two goals in the first period and then went on to score 5 unanswered goals that made it 5 - 2 going into the third. They allowed the Panthers to get one more goal and the game ended at 5 - 3 for the Canucks.

Good win, and an important one, but in the first period, I didn't feel good about
how they were playing at all. Glad they rose to the occasion in the second, and
went on to win the game.
This should give them more confidence to continue playing at a high level,
although they won't win every game, they are good enough to play above
500.
I thought Yanik Hansson looked great with the twins, he is improving all the
time.
Dimitra looked better again, don't know why he dissapears sometimes and
reappears at other times, they need him every game.

I didn't like the Canuck's first period very much, nor did I like most of the third. I thought they were running around a lot and they gave the Panthers a few chances.
Dimitra got a couple goals tonight and you are right, he doesn't show the consistant leadership I expected from him.

Yeah, the last half of the third period was hairy, don't know why teams, not just
them, go into a shell and let the opposition blast shots at them, hoping the
clock will go faster.
I am hoping dimitra will be more consistant now, it is important, and hopefully
he can see that.
On saturday night on the hot stove chat, (I think), it was said that gaborik
and hossa want to come to vancouver and play on same team as dimitra, as
the three of them are good friends.
Just talk, don't know how much actual inside information was gathered before
that comment was made, but both hossa and gaborik will be free agents at the
end of this season, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Gaborik is
almost ready to return to the 'wild', so hopefully he can stay healthy.

There isn't much doubt that Luongo does make a big difference to the team, especially in the low scoring games.

Yes that's right, and I'm sure it's probably right with most teams, and now
vineault has to pick the best of the worst, as they aren't playing very well,
letting one or two easy ones in, which could make a difference in winning
or losing.
Hopefully at least one of them steps up soon, and plays good enough to be
the number one till luongo gets back, not much good in bringing in another
goalie, unless they find out that luongo is out for the season, cause as soon
as he gets back, then they have a spare goalie, with nothing to do, unless
they bring in one who can be sent to the minors, but manitoba can't take
any more NHL players, after they have played Xnumber of games, they are
at the quota.

Back when Edmonton were in their heyday, they used to get 5 or 6 goals scored on them. Their solution was to score 6 or 7 goals. A good offence can be a good defence. Vancouver is not Edmonton, but they can score goals.

That's right, I remember it well, and tampa bay try to do that too, but it isn't
working, as their offence is trying to do both, but even LeCavelier and St. Louis aren't good enough to do everything, they aren't the edmonton oilers
of old. That was a very special team.
Yes, Vancouver have to score at least 4 goals a game, and our defence is good
enough to keep out opposition, most of the time, it's just our goalkeeping right
now, not good enough.
I don't care which goalie they start on Wednesday, he will just have to do better.

Well they did score four goals on Wednesday and allowed only two by the opposition. The Sedins were hot again....Daniel got a couple.

The sports writers keep talking about Mats Sundin..........If he doesn't soon make up his mind, he may as well retire. A player can get back in shape fairly quickly at 22 years old but it takes a lot longer at 37.

Nothing to get excited about, right now they are holding their own, I'd rate them at C+.

You're probably right. I would rate them a little higher when Luongo is healthy.

LOL, Vancouver is stuck with Sundin. Good luck!
I am listening to 1040 as we speak, news has just come over the wire.
He will add to the talent on vancouver, no doubt about, but I am glad this
is over, the waiting was silly.
apparantly he just decided he would 'even' play hockey two weeks ago, then
it was between rangers and canucks. He weighed everything, and decided
that he would fit better in Vancouver, and also they wouldn't have to get
rid key players to accomodate him.
I am looking forward to sundin joining the canucks, just hope it goes on into
the two years, and not just this season.

I hope he's kept himself in shape. If he has, he should fit right in. Vancouver is a fast team with quite a few potential goal-scorers. Sundin could maybe fill out the line with the twins, and that line should take pressure off the other lines. Two very good lines is all most teams can put out there. Vancouver can now field three very good lines and if they can get their defense healthy and get their #1 goal tender back, they will be a handful for any team in the league.
