If by some miracle Calgary wins all their remaining games they would have a hundred and four points so as yet nothing has been decided. If they lose another three games and the teams ahead of them win, Calgary is toast...

Yep, I'm aware of the mathematical implications, but Calgary is my 30th most favourite team.

I think Calgary should just shine up the golf clubs and never mind about Detroit or Nashville. One thing has me curious- by my calculations Edmonton has been mathematically eliminated - do you agree? The standings on ESPN do not indicate that and in past years they've always shown who's clinched and who's been eliminated - now I'm beginning to doubt my own sanity.

There is a page in the NHL website, that shows what playoffs
would look like if it happened right now, and they don't
show the teams that have no chance, just those who are
still in contention.

No JLM, Calgary is in a tough position, but definitely not
out of it yet, but their schedule is tough.

edmonton have no mathematical chance, along with some other teams.

Should be good times tonight, Talloola against N.Y.I. and then a bit of a toughie on Thurs. against the Sharks, but I think they'll squeak a win there.

I just looked over the Canuck's remaining schedule. There will be a couple of stiff games but the Canucks should win most of the thirteen games that are left. Be nice to have home ice advantage in the play-offs......;-)

I should've known the Canucks-Islanders game would go this way..today the guys on Team1040 were falling over themselves annointing the Canucks to Godliness.

yes, and they were saying 'all day' how easy this game
should be. They are so 'dumb', they get sucked in so
easy, and don't seem to have a clue. No team is a cinch,
and if a team doesn't come to play, it's a loss.
Canucks didn't come to play, luongo didn't play well, and
islanders would take this game very seriously, they don't
want to be embarrassed in vancouver.
When I saw that Rolloson was playing, I said to my husband,
"They better get lots of quality shots on him, because if
they don't, he will stone us."
We outshot them by a zillion, but many of those were not
quality.
Some of our players showed up, so we can't trash the whole
team.
Guess we are expecting wins all the time now, so this one
will snap everyone back to reality, anyone can beat anyone.
This is a good 'jolt' for canucks and the fans, now back
to business next game.

Let's go Islanders!!!

Beating the Maple Laughs a couple days ago wasn't much to crow about but the Canucks game was a quality win. I have to cheer when I can because the last decade or so has been pretty grim. I like a lot of the young talent coming up on the Island but we really need more depth at D and for DiPietro to get and stay healthy (Rolosson is just a stop gap measure at this point but he has played pretty well for us, all things considered). The forwards are looking positive with guys like Tavares, Bailey and Okposo but they need some age to give them some more consistency.

If I was a Canuck fan, the thing I'd be most concerned with right now is the back end: Luongo isn't playing strong right now and his D doesn't appear to be helping him much in giving up quality scoring chances. That will need to tighten up or it will be another long golf season for them.

In my last post I said the Canucks should win most of the games the have left. Well, they won't if they play like they did last night. Granted Rolloson was hot and Luongo wasn't but the blame has to go to the whole team. They played like a bunch of guys who had never met before. I don't know what went wrong but they better fix it or they won't get past the first round in the play-offs----- if they make the play-offs.

islanders played great last night, and rolloson was awsome.
canucks had a poor game last night, including luongo, but
I won't whine about them, as they have played great for
a long time now, so this is just one bad game along the
way.
Luongo is in a bit of a funk, and needs to figure himself
out, but raycroft is playing good, so we can use him when
we have to, might be more than we expect.

Anybody watch san jose play dallas night, score was 8-2 dallas, so
they are asking a few questions in San jose this morning.

Interesting, on team 1040 today, they were mentioning some
teams with players who were playing in the olympics, and
mentioned that many of them have fallen off in their play
recently, this is about the time when 'they' seem to hit
the wall.

San Jose had lots of players in the olympics, and last
night were beated 8-2 by dallas, and chicago seems to be
having trouble winning games, so maybe it has all caught
up to them now, and canucks had a stinker last night.
Those three teams had fairly large groups of players in the
olympics on different teams.

Hope we snap out of it soon.

Samuelsson has a shoulder injury, will be out 2 to 3 weeks,
so michael grabner has been recalled.

Luongo played a great game against calgary the other night.
