yeah, miller wasn't sharp at all, but also dallas scored 3 lucky goals, so i subtracted those from
the final total, and that leaves a tie.

canucks played very well, not good enough finish, but leighton played very well for dallas.

canucks had over 40 shots on goal, they checked well, and desjardin has a lot to like about their
play.

canucks again weren't good enough in the faceoff circle, that has to improve.

if lack had of started the game i believe canucks would have won, because they outplayed dallas
for most of the game.

miller has to be consistently sharp, so not sure where desjardin will go now for next game, maybe
lack can play against st. louis, then he could try miller again, against colorado.

its going to take a while, goaltending has to be sorted out, so like i always say, ten games into
the season before i make any judgement on anyone.

i agree with the goal not counting when sedin was interferring with goalie, cause he was.

glad they changed the call on the next 'no goal' call, nothing was wrong there at all.

thought sedins started that 'too much passing' thing again, as good as they are they do
get stuck in that pattern, as i saw quite a few times where there should have been a shot to the goal,
but they continued passing, finally losing the puck.

i see this team getting better as season continues, but there is some sorting out to do,
and i see that desjardin will move players around till he sees better chemistry, and more
scoring chances from the lines.

Vancouver Canucks vs. St. Louis BluesCANUCKS (3-2-0) at BLUES (2-2-1)

TV: NHLN-US, SNV, FS-MW

ST. LOUIS -- A familiar face is expected to face the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.

Vancouver Canucks goalie Ryan Miller, who was acquired by the Blues from the Buffalo Sabres prior to the NHL Trade Deadline last season, will face his former teammates when the Canucks and Blues battle at Scottrade Center (8 p.m. ET, NHLN-US, SNV).

Miller went 10-8-1 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 19 regular-season games for the Blues and was expected to be the missing piece for a deep Stanley Cup Playoff run. But after the Blues went up 2-0 in their Western Conference First Round series against the Chicago Blackhawks, they dropped the next four games and lost the series in six.

Miller was 2-4 with a 2.70 GAA and .897 save percentage against the Blackhawks and took a lot of heat from fans in St. Louis for the playoff failure.

The Blues informed Miller, 34, he would not be offered a contract and he went on to sign a three-year, $18 million contract with the Canucks on July 1.

"It's a team game," Blues right wing T.J. Oshie said, citing fan criticism as being unfair. "Maybe there's some pucks that he'd like to stop, but there's a lot of pucks that we would have liked to go in. You can look at our top guys, our core guys, and put the blame just as much on us for not putting the puck in the net as much as for him letting them go in."

Miller, who is 3-1-0 in four games with the Canucks with a 3.20 GAA and .884 save percentage, was pulled from a 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday in the second period after allowing five goals on 13 shots.

The Blues are expecting a motivated Miller on Thursday.

"He knows us," Blues center Patrik Berglund said. "It's obviously going to boost him a little extra. We know he's one of the best goaltenders in the world. We need to have a lot of traffic in front of him so he can't see the shots."

The Blues are dealing with the flu bug going around the locker room the past few days. Coach Ken Hitchcock called his lineup Thursday "fluid."

"We'll dress 20; we'll let you know who they are," Hitchcock said. "We don't know right now.

"We'll figure it out once we get to the game and see who can play and who can't."

The Canucks have given up 10 goals in the past two games (both losses) after starting the season 3-0-0. Coach Willie Desjardins said the Canucks have to do a better job in all three zones.

"Almost all the goals come off rushes against," Desjardins said. "In Dallas, we [gave up] a lot of rush goals. For us, we can't give out the odd rushes. We've got to make sure we're coming back into our end doing a good job. … It's a combination of things. We have to be better all over the ice defensively."

Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler will play in his 500th NHL game.

Injured: Paul Stastny (shoulder), Carl Gunnarsson (hip)

Status report: Steen skated before the players took the ice and left. He's one of the players affected by the flu. Lehtera, who did not play Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks because of the flu, skated the past two days and appears ready to return to the lineup. Stastny, who the Blues list as week-to-week, removed the sling from his left shoulder Wednesday. He will be reevaluated over the weekend. … The Canucks will return the defensive pair of Hamhuis and Bieksa on Thursday after splitting the two up against the Stars.

Who's hot: Oshie has 15 points in 18 games against the Canucks. Schwartz has seven points in five games to start the season. The Blues have earned points in five straight home games against the Canucks, going 3-0-2. … Daniel Sedin, who leads the Canucks with eight points, has a six-game point streak and at least a point in 11 of 14 games dating back to last season. Vrbata, who is second on the Canucks with six points, has a point in four of five games.

canucks played a very good game, miller was a bit shaky early on, but settled in and made some fine
saves, had a good game.

that second line, burrows, higgins, and bonino had 6 points, that is a good sign, the second line,
and they need to be consistently dangerous, to support the top line, and that keeps the opposition
on their toes.

good, hard working game for the guys, they earned the win.

canucks 4 blues 1

tomorrow in colorado

i will be away for a few days, won't be reporting the games, going to spend four days in ucluelet,
taking one dog, and we will join two of my daughters, one grandaughter, and 3 more dogs, good food,
good company, lots of fun, and of course another birthday celebration for me, yumm, more cake.

hold down the fort, and Above all 'behave' yourselves.

uh huh!!!!!!

i wonder why you don't get all of the sportsnet channels, cause their games are on sportsnet
but not always the same sportsnet channel, but its always shorty and john garret, and unless
its a 'hockey night in canada' game, they are all on sportsnet.

During the week I usually get it on channel 9 or channel 3. My wife chose most of the channels, that channel was up in the hundreds, maybe it's got something to do with anything above 13 being in strange territory!

I saw the game on something called NHL TV-it was John & Shorty doing the play by play but the rest was a couple of idiots babbling on about nothing.

i have telus, sattelite, (which is the same sattelite as bell)

sportsnet channels are 905-06-07-08-09, then NHL tonight is 924, and then there is sportsnet one, which is the 909 channel, so they do move the games around according to what they need. when the baseball is
over, i think all of the canucks games will be on 905, and that is probably the same feed jlm gets.

Hurricanes' Eric Staal set to return vs. CanucksMonday, 10.27.2014 / 3:27 PMKevin Woodley - NHL.com

Message:Hurricanes' Eric Staal set to return vs. Canucks

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Vancouver CanucksHURRICANES (0-5-2) at CANUCKS (5-3-0)

TV: CBC, TVA2

Season series: The Canucks won both games against Carolina last season, but with meetings few and far between over the past five seasons, the Vancouver player most familiar with the Hurricanes is new No.1 goalie Ryan Miller, who compiled a 13-9-4 record against them during his 12 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres.

Hurricanes team scope: Carolina will get a boost in its bid to win for the first time this season; captain Eric Staal shed his yellow non-contact jersey in practice Monday and said he will return Tuesday after missing five games because of an upper-body injury. Staal, who centered a top line with Jiri Tlusty and Alexander Semin in practice, admitted it has been hard to watch with the Hurricanes struggling early under new coach Bill Peters. "It's never fun watching, especially when you are not in the win column," said Staal, who had a goal and an assist in two games before getting hurt. Fellow forward Nathan Gerbe, who has missed three games because of a lower-body injury, was still in a non-contact yellow jersey Monday, but he is close to returning. For Peters, who is without Jordan Staal after he broke his leg in a preseason game, the depth and experience at center will be welcomed on a young team learning a new system. "Now you are able to bump guys down the lineup to where they should be as young guys and it gives you a little more depth and helps your power play," Peters said. "When you have been struggling, to get your leader back and a real good player, it helps, so we're looking forward to it and we're realistic. He's been out a while and we'll have to manage his minutes properly."

Canucks team scope: The Canucks' top line and power play continue to roll early this season with free-agent addition Radim Vrbata fitting in seamlessly with Daniel and Henrik Sedin. But the early play of a new second line has been equally important. Second-line center Nick Bonino, acquired from the Anaheim Ducks as part of the trade for Ryan Kesler, has three goals and seven points in Kesler's old spot. He has combined with linemates Chris Higgins and Alexandre Burrows for seven goals and 18 points so far, important contributions with the third and fourth lines struggling. Perhaps most impressive given Bonino's billing as a pass-first center is the accuracy of his shot; he scored the go-ahead goal on a perfect short-side wrist shot past the blocker of St. Louis Blues goalie Jake Allen on a 2-on-1 rush last week, and then went over the glove of Washington Capitals goalie Justin Peters from a similar spot Sunday. "He does a really good job disguising that shot," coach Willie Desjardins said after Bonino scored the go-ahead goal and set up the eventual winner by Luca Sbisa 22 seconds later on Sunday. "He's a key guy on that line and he's been playing well for us."

what a strange thing to say. because they haven't won yet, means that they will win a
game soon. they are getting one of their top players back tonight.
i'm sure glad the coaches and the team don't look at the game from that angle, or they
wouldn't win anything.

have you followed oilers lately, lost first five, now they have won four straight. just
because a team doesn't have a win, doesn't for one minute mean they can't win.

yeah, very strange, even with the smily

Not strange at all. Of course the 'Canes are going to win a game, don't get me wrong. I just don't expect it will be at the Canuck's expense.:) Another hour or two will tell.

The Canucks just got another goal to make it 2 - 0, I'm not sure who scored it. I wouldn't cpount the Hurricane out just yet. Stall could get a couple goals in as many minutes and change the whole game but right now the Canucks look pretty good
