Lots of upsets tonight! The big one will be tomorrow when Colorado is really upset!

I was so excited to see winnipeg get that win in overtime, too bad they couldn't do it in regulation time,
but they have kept themselves alive, they still have a chance.

I just checked the stats- they do have a game in hand over some of their rivals, so I guess we'll just have to hang and rattle and see what happens.

I just checked their schedule, not too bad at all, they don't meet anyone who is at the top of the
heap.
It would be nice if they had more home games than away, but maybe tonight they broke open that problem
they had winning away from their own rink, maybe now they can do it anywhere, and with what is at
stake, it will be exciting.

thats even a bigger hill to climb for jets than it is for canucks, and even canucks have a tough
road ahead, a nice thought though.

I think the jets coach is very very good for them, it is he who has molded that team to be as efficient
as they have been this season.

Only if you want to give Bettman a stroke.

yesterday they were interviewing a fellow on the radio, and asked him what is the first thing
he would say to bettman if he could, he said "get some platform shoes". lol

yeah, wouldn 't he hate that final. I'm sure his choice would always be two u.s. based teams,
both from the north east somewhere, and all large markets.

I have been checking out the 'chicago blackhawks' message board, kind of interesting, as I was
curious after the suspension to Keith, just what their reaction would be. It varies somewhat.
Probably similar to the canuck board, and of course the home team always gets the positive spin.

If you have a spare moment, check it out, you just have to give a user name, then click in:

I did reply to one post, it was quite a long one, trashing everything about the canucks, then he
finished off trashing daniel for his body check, which was a bit high on keith, he finished up
by saying "And don't say he was just finishing his check", so, yep you got it right, that is
just what I said. "He was just finishing his check".

If you go into NHL.com, then just click on whatever 'team logo' you want at the top, that will
put you into their web site.

The Vancouver Canucks aren't sure when leading goal scorer Daniel Sedin will return to the lineup, but at least they're in a comfortable spot in the Western Conference standings.

The Colorado Avalanche don't feel that way about their position.

One point shy of clinching its fourth consecutive Northwest Division title, Vancouver closes a four-game trip Saturday night when it tries to extend its point streak over the Avalanche to 16.

While there has been no confirmation Sedin suffered a concussion after getting elbowed in the face by Duncan Keith in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss in Chicago, the reigning Art Ross Trophy winner has returned to Vancouver with no timetable set for his return.

His twin brother Henrik spoke with him prior to Thursday's 2-1 victory over Dallas and said that Daniel "has symptoms, a little bit of a headache, which comes with a hit like that."

Without Daniel - the team leader with 30 goals - the Canucks (44-21-9) will need Henrik and others to generate more offense as they try to trim St. Louis' four-point lead atop the West.

Vancouver, 3-5-1 since a 2-0 victory over the Blues on March 1, has scored just three times on its trip after Mason Raymond and Kevin Bieksa found the back of the net on Thursday.

"We're not to replace Daniel Sedin with anybody in the league, obviously," Bieksa said. "... That's what you need when your best players go down - you need guys to step up, fill that void. But obviously, we're a better team with Daniel in the lineup."

Daniel Sedin and Jannik Hansen lead the Canucks with three goals apiece as they've won all four meetings with the Avs (40-31-5) this season by a combined 14-3, including 9-0 in the first two.

The Canucks have outscored Colorado 59-27 in 15 games since their last regulation loss in this series, 3-0 in Denver on Oct. 3, 2009.

If Vancouver can continue that point streak on Saturday, it will eliminate Colorado and Calgary from the divisional race and lock up one of the top three seeds.

The Avs, meanwhile, really can't afford anything fewer than two points Saturday.

After taking sole possession of seventh place with Tuesday's 2-1 home win over the Flames, Colorado is back in a tie for eighth after Thursday's 3-2 loss at Phoenix.

The Avs are one of five clubs battling for the final two playoff spots.

"We've got to put (the loss to Phoenix) behind us very quickly and get ready for Vancouver," Colorado coach Joe Sacco told the team's official website. "At this time of the year you can't dwell on a loss. There is too much at stake."

With a league-low six games left to decide if they'll make the playoffs, the Avalanche might ride Semyon Varlamov in net the rest of the way.

But Varlamov, who had his personal five-game winning streak snapped Thursday, is 0-3-0 with a 3.54 goals-against average in three starts against Vancouver this season.

Canucks coach Alain Vigneault could give Roberto Luongo another night off after Cory Schneider earned a career-best 17th victory with Thursday's 25-save effort.

Schneider has stopped all 44 shots he's faced against Colorado this season. He made 24 saves in a 3-0 win in Denver on Nov. 23, then turned aside 20 shots Dec. 6 after Luongo was hit under the mask by a Gabriel Landeskog slap shot.

These teams meet for the final time Wednesday in Vancouver.

Hope Daniel is back soon, with him they should be able to win the Cup in 16 games, otherwise there's no telling, it might be 20 games. (Bettman is nothing but a supercillious little pr*ck)

Once they battled thru the ultimate high energy of colorado in the first period, and avalanche came down
a notch in the second, then it was game on.

canucks controlled the game from then on, showed their maturity compared to the youth of the avalanche
and a couple of very pretty goals by raymond, and higgins tied the game.

overtime came, and again the toughness of hanson, battling for the puck on the end board, then a nice
pass to higgins, who shot the puck thru the defenseman's legs and continued thru the goalies legs to
win the the game 3-2 in overtime.

clinched the division and the playoffs tonight, and now they can come home for a few.

they looked a bit sluggish in the first, but hung in there, booth, kesler and raymond had very good games, and it was a solid team game thru the second and third.

Luongo looked a bit clumsy right at the beginning of the game, but he settled in
and played a very solid game, and held them in there when things looked a bit
frantic, and he played well the rest of the game.

That's the boys! A good team can come back easy from being down by 2. Just think if Dan'l had of been there, it would have been a massecure, probably about 8/2. One thing has me very puzzled - it was announced during the game that Calgary's loss to Dallas clinched first place for the Canucks in the N.W. Calgary hasn't been a contender for first place since Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!

The Prez's trophy is starting to smell pretty strong again. St. Lou is going to seed.

Yes, I'm sure simple math causes you all kinds of grief. Try a calculator. 14 points back with 8 games left meant Calgary could still mathematically win the conference. With their loss, they were 14 back with 7 to go and the Nucks would win due to head to head results.

Maybe a slight touch of hyperbole! You mean about Dan'l or about Calgary?

yeah, about calgary, cause its just all about mathematics, we know calgary is dead , but you
were kidding, so don't take me seriously, you do understand what its all about, you were just making
fun of calgary, I know. lol

Yeah, the bit about Thanksgiving, I should have said Remembrance Day.

And I guess you figured even if Calgary was to win all those games, Vancouver would just be sitting around with their finger where the sun don't shine.:lol:
