I agree that the Cannucks can give either team good games, talloola. However, I kind of agree with JLM that the Sharks are more thuggish than the Red Wings and with the Sedins not known for their hitting ability, I would rather see the Cannucks play Detroit. Does that make any sense to you? I really don't like the Sharks coach one bit - something about him bothers me but I can't put my finger on exactly what it is.

san jose might be bigger and a little tougher, but detroit are showing their deep talent and
knowledge about how to win in the playoffs. San Jose have not been beating up detroit at all,
but detroit have been stronger as the game goes along and the strongest at the end.
Detroit have shown a non stop determination to win the game, now in game 7 we'll see who is the
most determined, when all is equal in points.

Concerning the sedins, they just have to be 'quicker' making decisions and very aware who is around
them, they are not fleet of foot, never have been, but they can think faster than most, and they
must do that now, and not make poor passes or blind passes that don't work, which coughs up the
puck and puts the team in trouble.
They have improved in that catagorie of late, hope it continues.

Sharks coach is a neat guy, the team really respect and like him, for me it is the hair, his hair
looks 'bullet proof', don't think its the kind of hair a woman would love to run her hands thru,
might cause a trip to emmergency to stop the bleeding. lol

Darn it all anyway, I changed that post once I went back and saw that it was Nashville who JLM thought were thugs! Shouldn't write before I know what I am talking about though I do think the Sharks are a tad rough. I know the Sedins are improving with every game and hope they keep it up as they can be dangerous when they are on their game.

It is his eyes and mustache that kind of get to me, talloola. Nothing to do with whether or not the Sharks like him or his being a good coach. I know, picky, picky.........LOL!

yeah, I knew he talked about nashville concerning the thuggery aspect.

san jose are big, not so much thugs, but the games are so intense that the impact between players
is strong, physically, big or not, they are all playing as hard as they possibly can, so much
desire to win, on both teams, I just saw detroit prevail between the ears, and also by 'not'
even flinching in their determination to win, but they also were the team with most to lose in
last game, not so next game, they both are in same boat now, so can't wait for game, will be a
good one.

Believe it or not the Canucks are actually one of the biggest teams in the league. Our top 6 D are the biggest group in the league by average. This was evidenced in the first 2 games against Chicago. It seems to me that they have started to believe they are a team like Detroit who plays entirely on speed and skill, which Vancouver has its share of, but we need to play a bit more on the rough & tough side to succeed. That is how we opened it up on everyone in the regular season and how we easily handled Chicago in games 1 and 2.

and with ballard out of the lineup for the defense, they get bigger, for sure, he's just a little guy.

would be interesting to go thru the teams still alive and see just what team is 'overall', the biggest,
everyone talks about san jose being so big, but wellwood and boyle are not, but maybe overall they are.

If we play san jose, I hope someone quietly gives wellwood a few shots of his own
medicine, as he opened his big mouth, about the canucks, pretty stupid and
arrogant, he needs to hear back from someone.

Good idea, that's a good project for me. Should have an answer in 1/2 an hour.

Got the Canucks done............average height 6'11/4" average weight 2011/2 lb.

Anyone interested in doing another team?

San Jose.................Average Height 6'1" average weight 208 lbs.

thats interesting, not much different at all, canucks are slightly taller, and san jose are
a bit heavier, all in all about the same, maybe canucks sizes and weights are distributed a
little more evenly throughout the team.

we don't have a little biddy wellwood. lol

also, when reading heights and weights of players, it seems that over the years they have embellished
numbers to make players look bigger than they really are, in some cases.

wellwood is listed as 5'10"
Ian white is 5'10"
Scott Nichol is 5'9"
don't know the other two, but I don't believe wellwood is 5'10"

Ballard is listed as 5'11",
hodgson 6'0"
Tambolinni 5'11"

they all seem embellished in my opinion.
maybe because all of the others are quoite big, they just seem smaller, but I
still think it is exaggerated.

These guys are bruisers, I'm pretty sure Stan Smyl was only 5'8"................could be wrong. I think Theoren Fleury was 5'5" in his elevator shoes.

lol cliff ronning was only about 5'5" or 5'6" too, but probably listed as 5'7" or 5'8"

In reality I don't have a clue who will win tonights game, but my gut feeling tells me that
detroit will be coming to a rink in vancouver soon.

Its nice to know that another group of fans are squirming in their seats all thru the game tonight,
and it's not us for a change. lol

San Jose have had such good teams for a few years now, and have not been able to 'get it done', so
I guess their fans and media are all ready to 'fry' them if they don't win tonight, but that team
is much better than they have been in the past, and I notice the star players now are not the
ones everyone expected in the past, they are the younger up and coming players, and clowe, and
a couple of others, so the team is getting deeper in talent, 'still doesn't mean' they will win.
Even though they were up 3-0 in the series, those 3 games could have gone either way, detroit was in every one of them and
now has found a way to do the same to them, so now it is a series of 'one' game takes all.

If Canucks manage to win next series, and move closer to the finals, the fans and media will love
them again, BUT I find that so fake, because 'if' that shot that sharp put on luongo would
have found the back of the net in overtime in game 7, they would have been hated for years by the fans and media.
It is such a 'fine' line between winning and losing, and in this playoff there has allready been
quite a few game 7s, just to show you how close all of the teams are, a bad bounce here, a little
mistake there, and the games can turn around, and injuries too because as I mentioned the other day,
without patrice bergeron, boston will have problems, so until he can play again, i'm not sure if
boston can win, sort of like canucks without kesler.

If san jose lose tonight, all we will here is the 'labelling', choker, did it again,
can't get it done, etc., but they have played hard, gave their all, and win or lose,
they have had a good season, and shouldn't hang their heads for anybody, if it was
me I would hang up my skates, go and have a good summer with my family, and say to
them all 'f**k you.

I wish our canucks the very best, hope they go all the way, but either way, I will love and support
them next season just as I always have.
I see the grind they go through to 'please' not only the fans, but themselves, they are hungry for
that elusive cup, they all are, it is what they grow up wantng, and strive for all thru their careers.

s**t happens, thats life, we all 'want what we want', too bad, if it can't happen
so what, sun will come up tomorrow (oh, maybe not), we'll pretend it does anyway,
and life goes on.

Most will not ever win it.

The Sharks are hungry tonight and the Red Wings have barely left the nest long enough to get anything done. Bertuzzi was taken to the locker room just 6 mins into the 1rst and that has had an affect on the Wings.

Detroit's PP is really not too stellar while the Sharks came close to scoring with a man down.

Setoguichi put the Sharks on the board near the 8 minute mark of the 1rst with assists by Thornton and Boyle.
Vlasic added a second with :59 left on time clock, unassisted to end the 1rst with the Sharks up 2 - 0.

Jimmy Howard has been a monster for Detroit as has Thornton for San Jose.

The Red Wings left the nest and started to take flight in the 2nd. After Datsyuk took an interference penalty the Wings fought back with a great penalty kill to keep the Sharks at 2. Then Datsyuk made up for his error by setting up Zetterberg via Flippula(sp) to put Detroit on the board. Just as things were looking up for Detroit, Cleary was taken out of the game by a clip from a teammate which left the Wings without him or Bertuzzi who didn't come back in the 2nd. Cleary was on the ice for awhile before being helped to the dressing room looking anything but chipper. Odds are he won't be back for the 3rd either.

Both Niemi and Howard were tested and came up big on some really close shots.

2 - 1 Sharks end of 2nd.

Vancouver will be visiting warmer climes in their next series as San Jose prevailed over the Detroit Red Wings in a 3 - 2 win before their screaming fans.

Marleau answered his critics by putting the Sharks up 3 -1 with 7:47 left in the 3rd but Detroit wasn't quite done as Pavel Datsyuk came up with a beauty to put one more on the board for the Wings. Unfortunately, that would be their last goal of the period and the series.

My heart really goes out to Pavel and Zetterberg most especially, they really played solid games tonight and put in long minutes on the ice. Congratulations to the Red Wings for making this an exciting game and a great series. Better luck next year.

Great game Sharks. Congratulations to all the San Jose fans.

I thought it was a very even game tonight, first period belonged to san jose, second to detroit, and
the third was a struggle by both teams.

In my opinion the 'key' to the sharks win was the 'giveaway' by zetterburg which was a gift goal
for couture, a huge unforced error by detroit, game should have been 1-0 end of first.

It was catch up from then on for detroit, they got one, which would have tied it up 'if not' for
the gift goal.

Yes, detroit were battered and bruised for sure, and in hindsight now, sharks have a healthier team
to move on.

I didn't have a favourite team, didn't really care who canucks play, BUT for the reasons I gave in
my earlier post, sharks have saved themselves from the fan/media hanging, just as canucks did, again
a very fine line between hanging and loving. lol

I'm looking forward to Sunday, should be a good series, and if both teams play like they played each
other in their last regular season game, 5-4 in a shoot out for canucks, best game I saw all season.

I said earlier I had a feeling that detroit would be coming to vancouver, maybe they
just want to watch next series? no? lol, guess not.

Well now they can all come and visit and spend lots of money in Vancouver. - oh and cheer for the Cannucks.

That was partly my analysis of the games and partly the commentators on TSN. They actually were even more brutal with their summing up of the periods, they must have all had their money on the Sharks. LOL!

I found this game much more exciting then the last game and almost believed the Red Wings would take it but, like you, it didn't really matter. I was just glad they took it to 7 games.

And now to get ready for the next step in the journey. I am glad for the fans that they had the extra time off to come back to earth and get ready for the next round.

I hope the game tonight doesn't look anything like the Bruins/Lightning opener. Thomas had a Luongonian-like 1st period. Tell us there can't be back to back games like it.

I would say kaberle should be brought into that equation as well, terrible giveaway at the net.

And on that second goal, the whole team stood still and watched the tampa bay player skate around
all of them and let that back hand shot go, which thomas should have stopped.

game was actually very close, bruins outplayed tampa first half of first period, then let in those
two bad goals, and sagged, and seemed to pout about it, couldn't regain their energy for a long time.

That second goal was the one that I thought Thomas should have stopped; that stupid giveaway on the third goal caught him completely off guard, who would have thought your own defenseman would give away the puck 6 inches from the side of your net.

The first with Thomas on his knees thinking he had the puck while the game continued with the real puck in the slot, that was a gift.

this conference final between canucks and san jose will be the biggest test for either team, and
whichever team makes it thru, in my opinion will not have quite as much of a battle in the final,
doesn't matter which team wins in the east, I don't think either one of them are equal to the two
in the west, BUT of course that doesn't mean they can let up even a tad, or they will lose, still
have to bring A game to every game.
