Unpopular opinion or not, my heart really goes out to a lot of these “New Canadian” truckers.
Many come to Canada not planning on being Truckers at all. They get sponsored into Canada (escaping extreme overpopulation) thinking they’re arriving to continue their careers as accountants or computer programmers….& nope!!
They arrive to find out that not only is their job at home gone, but there is no accounting or programming job waiting for them here, & that they’re pre-enrolled in some bogus ‘trucking school’ or they’re going back to India broke, in debt, and unemployed. It’s predatory, unscrupulous, & downright dirty….& really no choice for them. We here in North American (for the most part) have no idea how ruthless the job market is when you’re competing with 1,200,000,000 other people for employment with not real social safe
Driving experience or not, winter experience or not, for an indentured servant’s wage after a bogus trucker school diploma….they’re now truckers trying to stay ahead of an ELD running initially between Surrey BC & Calgary AB (through mountain passes with 1/2 the year being winter) until they can get runs elsewhere in Canada. It’s really ugly….
Throw a bunch of road closures into BC now, & assume delivery time financial penalties for late delivery on top of the ELD, & that’s what we’re seeing in the OP’s video. I’m not condoning it at all, but I understand what I’m seeing & why.
