Your angst, at that of the other lefties in this forum who casually pretend to be centrists...... at seeing Hillary hilariously disparaged in this fashion.....is quite telling...

Actually what I find quite telling is that anytime there is a female politician, they first thing anybody (right, left or in between) does is attack her for being a woman.

Quite telling indeed.

Speaking of which....B00Mer, I'm certain I speak for many here, please stop sharing all your fapping material. Nobody wants to see that sh!t.

You're right.... it is a bit much...... but a lot of those who were all happy when it was and still happening to Palin are now the most indignant when it's happening to a Democrat or Liberal candidate...

Reminds me of an old George Jones song...

Extreme ideologues react extremely, there's a shocker.

You know what I'm getting at though. I'm not one to jump on the "it's sexist" bandwagon either. Everybody is sexist a little bit at least and for the most part we just need to get over that sh!t. But the sheer volume of it is degrading and demeaning, not just to the woman being ridiculed but for all. And I know damn well that not every one who participates really thinks like that, I know better. Still, enough is enough.

The greatest difficulty with fighting misogyny is just what you describe. Many people participate even though they know better. It's because this behaviour is so normalized. If you want to fit in you either participate or say nothing. Although it's difficult to be openly racist, it's still common to stay silent when confronted with racism, and that perpetuates that problem. With misogyny we still aren't at the point where being openly hateful towards woman is publicly unacceptable.

In all honesty, I always look at context. Is it throwaway or not? I've often tossed out something "inappropriate" just because it was funny. I've joked about the tendencies of men in a stereotypical fashion and about women as well. I often tell people I "throw like a girl" which pretty much just means you better be prepared to dive for the damn ball, lol.

People still joke about racism, using it as comic fodder. Hell Russell Peters has built a career out of it. But it, like focusing solely on sexist rhetoric has a threshhold. After a while it just gets childish.

Yeah. That's exactly what I was saying.

Strange though how no one ever throws up any photo shopped pics of male politicians in bra and panties. And for the record, that was not an invitation to start.

By the way, you can be as anti-Hillary as you want to be. What do I care? Just maybe ease up and remember that this isn't a frat house???
