I once again installed 'Calorie Count' on my computer yesterday. A handy toolbar from about.com, it enables you to put a visual toolbar in your internet browser which shows your caloric intake for the day. I carefully tracked and tallied my calorie intake yesterday and oh so proudly finished my day at precisely the number of calories I should.

Or rather, I thought I had.

This morning when I got up to make breakfast I realized we were out of milk, so I reached for the coffee creamer for my oatmeal, only to realize that I'd had about 4 cups of coffee with cream in them yesterday. Dammit!!

Hidden calories.... so damn frustrating. It will take a bit to get used to watching again and not letting myself consume those extras without factoring them into my day.

I have the solution for you and it works good- you don't need cream in coffee, if you start using skim milk, you'll never miss cream. I've been using skim milk for at least 15 years without ill effects.

Do you track your calorie intake every day? I think I would be afraid to do so lol

I have to start, and I am a-feared. The end result is I can't drink wine AND eat, so, Fridays and Saturdays are going to be a struggle to see which one I feel I need more.... lol.

I'll just drink it black. I don't mind it black. I only drink cream in it when company comes by and they want cream. I'm such a conformist. lol.

Those calories. Sneaky little devils. They hide in the shadows, behind the baseboards of the walls, behind the stove, and yes, even inside the tube parts of the toilet paper.
Can't blame you about not using skimmed milk; at least the storebought kind. It's like water with white food coloring in it. We skim the raw milk we get. About 2% is as far as we'll skim to, though. Anything past that is rendering it flavorless. So I'd prefer to have black coffee rather than spend money on colored water, too. :D

I have been drinking a lot of the new V-Fusion drinks from V8 this summer

I don't tend to overeat in the heat but I don't prepare proper meals because of the heat and tend to hang around lettuce and it's buddies too much and it becomes boring.

V8 has put out some nifty mixed drinks combining fruit and vegetable juices and for some reason they also satisfy a hunger pang or two especially during mid-day when I start to get tired....

V8 - V8 V-Fusion juice: One delicious taste. Two healthy servings.

Don't know if they help with calories but I didn't realize I had lost weight (which I wasn't trying to lose) when I was at my last doctor's appointment.

I also like V-8 juice but you have to be careful. Campbell's brand is good, but President's Choice brand is like water added to sawdust.. yuck.

Hi JLM

Agreed on the V8 juice - never been a fan and it took me a long time to purchase the V8 Fusion blends but so far I haven't had one I didn't enjoy - all you taste is fruit.

I haven't checked the Fusion drinks for sodium Curio but maybe you should. V8 itself has a ton of salt in it. I have never used a lot of salt and a tin of V8 tastes like pure salt to me.

Karrie, do you have an address for installing the "Calorie Count"? I would really like to be able to use that. Good way of saying no to myself.

Thanks VanIsle

I haven't checked the actual bottle so I grabbed one from the fridge - there are 8floz serving sizes = 120 per serving or 240ML - approximately six servings per bottle (which is about right for me - it fills me up very quickly).

OK reading the other stuff in the mix:

Total Fat 0g
Sodium 70mg (3% daily value)
Potassium 210mg (6% daily value)
Total Carbohydrates 28g (9% daily value)
Sugars 26g
Proteins 1g

As I type this I have no idea what it all means - only that I drink one full bottle about two days if I am on a regular schedule and wasn't using it for anything but thirst and getting some Vitamins of which there are 100% in the mixture. I am a terrible eating planner. Living alone is strange for me and often I'll go to bed and realize I skipped dinner...forgetting it.

I am honestly a junk food junkie and if I wasn't so hyper would probably weigh far more than I do. I
was merely trying to "drink" some healthy stuff to introduce my body to the better things in life hehe.

Well, if it helps at all Curio, the V Fusion drinks all get a 'B' rating from the Calorie count program for healthiness. Not too bad.

Here's something for you gals with an obsession for being lean and trim (I kind of like my women with a little flesh on them, makes them more useful at handling the heavy chores):lol::lol:

Oh I'll never be thin JLM, no obsession on that front. lol.
