I've said before and I'll say it again until I'm blue in the face: Muslim head garments, such as the niqab and the burka, have no place in modern Western societies and should be banned, as the likes of France and Belgium already have.

This is just so obvious.
Yeah, huh. And ban bowlers, too.

Let them wear the darn thing if they want as long as their identity is proven somehow. If that means showing their face to a woman behind closed doors first then so be it. The ceremony is just that...ceremony. All the identity checks etc are already finished at that point and the family dog can attend on her behalf without it making any difference. I never attended my citizenship ceremony and know quite a few others who didn't either.

As for the public thing well unless you are going to ban turbans and yamulkes and mitres etc then just leave them all alone. The entire issue is designed to divide and create an atmosphere of hatred and suspicion in order to justify spending billions to bomb middle-eastern countries for control of natural resources.
Riiiiiight. Because Canada needs Mid-East oil like a drowning man needs a glass of water.

Oh look, you're back, and just as stupid as before you left. You can't compare Turbans and niqabs. One is a required part of ones faith and religion, the other is not.

Actually, that's wrong, you can compare the 2 if you're an idiot.

I kind'a glossed over the turban thing. Some people may find this odd considering my stance on the niqab and burka but I fully supported the right for Sikhs to wear their turbans in the Legion Halls. Here's how I reasoned it. They wore their turbans into combat "fighting for King and country", then they're damn well good enough to wear in a Legion Hall. They sure weren't expected to remove them on the occasion any them may have been in the presence of the King, say for being decorated or something.

Plus, the Sikh turban is one of the 5 articles of faith that a baptized Sikh MUST wear. A niqab is not required by the Islamic faith. It is a local customs in some areas of the Middle East.

Yeahhhh but the kirpan is another of the 5 articles BUT their religion does permit them to use a symbolic version of it when they are in non-Sikh countries/cultures.

Many moons ago I met an elderly Sikh gentleman on a train in France. He was an incredibly interesting man and very knowledgeable. The kirpan had become a recent issue in Canada at that time so I asked him about it. He explained to me about the articles of faith and told me about the permitted use of a symbolic version of the kirpan. He then explained that unfortunately, there are several in the Sikh religion who use our ignorance of their religion to push what would normally be unacceptable in Canada, like carrying a dagger in public or the workplace or school.

They're still clinging to that oil thing. Now that oil flows beneath our feet like the ocean the tards are very upset as is OPEC and the Ruskies.

I am so enjoying paying $1.97 at the pump.

Considering Canada has the third largest proven oil reserves on the planet, it seems counter productive for us to import oil from anywhere else.

It is a great feeling. It took awhile but Canada got there.

Oil independence make some very salty.

Actually, no you don't. America's proven reserves are around 30 billion bbls. Canada's proven reserves are around 175 billion barrels. But as you said, it's the refineries that make the difference.

We should be building refineries. Unfortunately Harper likes presidential d*ck in his a$$ so would rather build pipelines south and sell you oil cheap.

Maybe you can swim in it seeing you can't refine it. Hike the price... we go elsewhere! I mean... if you want to be adversarial and all.

As I said... people getting salty! ;)

No town seems to want refineries built in them. They are smelly don't ya know.

I did not know Harper was an oil executive. Perhaps we will see refineries built by Trudeau on every street corner post Monday.

But. . . but. . . it's not Canadian! What happened to "If you want to come to Canada, you gotta act like a Canadian?"

I'm not adversarial. I just think our policy of shipping it to you cheap then buying it back at outrageous prices is stupid. I would gladly let you buy at market value but we should be able to buy our own oil cheap instead of at full retail.

You mean "hike the price....we invade and take it all" as you keep doing all over the middle east. :p
