No, it isn't. And with every one that comes ashore, people get killed and property gets damaged or destroyed. It was happening before these areas were settled, and will continue. I know that I could not live there, but others love it, despite the possibility of being wiped out. I wish everyone well.
We've forwarded some donations down there to help out. It will take a while, but things will return to normal. They always do.

New Orleans isn't back to normal after Katrina and it's been 11 years. Haiti is no where near normal, course they also suffered an earth quake 7 years before Matthew hit them. Parts of the Phillipines are still recovering from theirs a few years ago.
Hopefully Hurrican Irma will not destroy everything in it's path...

When you live in areas like that, you accept that destructive weather happens. The human mind blocks out the truly bad things like, "Your family is wiped out". Most people do not think that they will be personally impacted.
I did not say normal for everyone. Just back to normal for the region. Storms happen constantly.
I wouldn't class these latest storms as "the new normal", because they've been going on for a long time.
