Remember back in October when Stephen Harper told us all that the Liberals couldn’t be trusted on taxes? And that their numbers didn’t add up? And that their deficits would grow?
Well, guess what? He was right!
Only a couple weeks after being elected, the Liberals backed away from their promise to keep the new annual deficit at “only” $10 billion / year. From iPolitics:
The finance minister is highlighting three economic priorities for the new government — but the Liberal campaign vow to cap annual deficits at $10 billion is apparently no longer among them.
And then, one week later, from the CBC:
The Trudeau government will acknowledge this week that its tax hike on the richest Canadians won’t cover the entire cost of its promised tax cut for the middle class…
So congratulations, Liberal voters! You did it!
