There's alot of back and forth about how many resources are available. On Google there are links from various mining companies and from the Green Party. While any of them could be factual and biassed, none of them are particularly reliable as neutral commentators. The OECD link I'd included is about the only neutral link I'd found, but then it's a long document and it might still not answer the question.

Certainly there ought to be some government of Canada site giving a clear answer to this we would hope.

Some of us have worked in the industry for many years, those of us that do know what is out there,we wont be running out of anything for centuries!

You have to remember that Canada and the arctic was settled, explored and exploited by some of the toughest peeps in the world, you have to be to survive in that environment, these are head down hair straight back kind of people that got our north to where it is right now so it is time to reap the rewards and riches for all that hard work.We found it,we explored and drilled it,we get the bounty at the end of the day.

With 45km of rock below our feet in Canada and few mines being over 2km deep, what are the odds we'll find all the minerals we need in the other 43km.

in 3 camps I went into the core shack and saw cores with visible gold in it,you know as well as me that you usually cant even see gold in a core sample in most mines.Between all the resources Canada has we are set to either be the next world economic power or get invaded for our res.

Yup X-ray spectroscopy is what we use to assay the majority of gold and other cores.

Do you think that maybe exploration has increased intensely since demand increased?
Probably. Does that mean that exploration is always successful or that the supply is endless? Nope.
Does increased demand mean supply is running out?
Yep. Everything on the planet has a limit.

I'm not all that impressed with Canada shipping raw asbestos to 3rd world countries just so Quebec can add some $$ to it's own economy. No if it was a final lightweight product that was in a finished form that could be a kit for a quake-proof (Igloo) structure to be assembled on site and then zero maintenance for 50 years I'd be all for it. Right now the stockholders should have to be at the worst places of the mine before they can even buy shares in a restricted business.

We won't run out of anything for centuries? roflmao
So what amounts of those materials I listed are there? And at what rates are we using them?

Oh, the people were tough and we get the benefits of their work. I guess that means there is an endless supply of everything.

I thought Canada did a high tech survey for surface minerals/materials for the whole country (central to far north mostly). No development would be started until it was going to be in production as it is cheaper that way . Being secretive about what you know you have would just allow the prise to rise if demand/supply became a factor. Once it has climbed your 'new discovery' can be announced.

Set up some seismic stations a long way apart and then drop a bunker buster in some remote location. A one shot complete map of 10,000 sq mi

More like about 20,000 years, and by then we will all be dead.

Those are based on current accessable supply. How much sits in waiting for extration?

Les...how long until we run out of aluminum?

There's more we haven't found yet, I am sure, but then again the population isn't leveling out either. We use it as we find it and as there is a constantly growing supply of "we", and considering we have to scrounge even harder to find more to meet demands, what do you think will be the result?

I don't know. How about you look it up?

Well, yes, along with a few others.

Most of the iron ore in Lab City is being taken by the Chinese and Indians. The Brazilians want the nickel.
Vale is in SK for potash too. Kronau mine up and running by 2017.

I already know. It's endless.

How many PGE deposits are in Canada alone?
