Probably not, but what has that got to do with anything? There's an old saying "You snooze you lose". :lol: I'm fairly sure the recruiters go over all this stuff.
If "You snooze you lose". :lol: includes former snipers who spent the past 5 years splitting heads open through a scope then being cut loose with no proper evaluation and self medicating in your local bar and freaking out and going on a killing rampage as a "You snooze you lose". :lol: then you've got some thinking to do.

When people enlist in the military do they not look into things like retirement packages and disability benefits?

I think the government would have a moral obligation to pay any disability benefits to a soldier injured on the job.
