Re: Harper is saying one thing, thinking another
Same-sex marriage is an issue I am loathe to discuss, but it seems to be everywhere now.
Firstly, I think it is a distraction from important issues , and Harper is behind this distraction.
Second, I don't understand why a gay person would WANT to have anything to do with churches that are so discriminatory and biased against them... but if they want to get married in a church, they are equal citizens and should be allowed. And where is the problem anyhow, since the proposed laws say any church that doesnt' want to, doesn't have to.
Third, it is Harper and the Christian aganda - what they are saying, the manipulation, the hidden hatred for gays - that makes me sick just to have this debate.
Harper is so ugly on this. Tell us the truth about what he has against it!! Really, Polygamy is now what he says will be one of the consequences of allowing gay marriage!! What a load of bullsplat - polygamy is a religious thing in the first place, and Harper might be onside with polygamy if he were not in the public eye.
But ploygamy is NOT what Harper is worried about here, he is just trying to make sure gays never have equality in our society. He hates them. He should say so and let Canadians decide if they want to include gays as equals to the rest of us [polls show Canadians are overwhelmingly in favour of gay marriage].
And the distraction? Maybe it is to distract us from the American issues of a fake war on Iraq, or trade issues Harper's heros in America are so blatantly bogus about , or Kyoto and air pollution and the fallout of climate change. Maybe it is about distracting us from the issues of legalisation of POT.
If we talked about those things, it might expose the Conservative's weak platform, their unholy alliances, and their christian agenda.
