LOL, you'd be the first supposed VFF I've ever heard say that. In fact, I've heard the opposite, from insurance companies, FF's, VFF's, Fire Chiefs, Police.

But the guy pretending to be a VFF on the net says the opposite. Go figure.

I'll assume that more than a few members posting in this thread have never, do not currently own a firearm nor have they ever fired one for any reason.

I've seen a few articles on Harper speaking about this issue.The general consensus is that every word he speaks is calculated to garner votes.
This time it sounds reasonable to me that he is just reminding his base of gun owners-who is on their side.As someone who has a
number of hunting guns and a high powered crossbow for deer hunting,i think that handguns should be banned and no more than 3

shot long guns.
Only military and police need military and police assault weapons.Canada is Canada and the US is the US and we can argue the differences but that approach is working in Austrailia and UK.

I have gone into bear/cougar country with not even bear spray and been told i'm pushing my luck.I told my relatives living in Edmonton

that i am more afraid of walking to the corner store in any city.Bears and such will only try to eat you when hungry but there is some evil walking dark pavement.
That said i am rural and yes guns give me some security but truth be told -we'd all be better off with bear spray for animal or human intruders-especially if you are unfamiliar with guns.

Try getting between a bear and his favorite fishing spot or berry bush or your cooler full of sammiches. Hungry or not they'll rip your noggin off and eat the sammiches, berries or fish leaving you to rot.

I would be quite disappointed to think they would rip my noggin off and then not try just a little bite.After all iv'e been told there's not much brain there and incredibly fresh as it's hardly ever used.
However,you -by speaking out -have made some powerful enemies ,my friend.Expect a lawsuit from the"Bear anti -defamation League"
The head barrister is purportedly one Yogi-known to be smarter than the average bear...
