That's only because the Riders weren't good enough to make it.

They lost their starting QB. Had he not been injured, they would have been hosting the Western Final and probably hoisting the Grey Cup. They also wouldn't have broken it. Time to banish Calgary from the league.

Breaking the Grey Cup is treasonous. We need a national inquiry.

If my dad had tits, he'd be my mother.

Seems to me the riders won a cup (barely) a few years ago when Glenn broke his arm and the Bombers had to start Dinwiddie who had never started a CFL game before. What goes around comes around. I guess the moral of the story is that the Riders only win when it's handed to them on a platter. Maybe that's why they've only won 4 in 100 plus years.

I watched the Packers vs. Patriots game prior to the Grey Cup.. probably the most entertaining and competitive NFL game of the season.. AND.. found, as i always do, just how much more fun and freewheeling a good CFL game is.

The CFL has one major problem. Toronto.. is stuck in the energy sucking Roger's Centre.. and its killing the franchise. They need to get out to the great outdoors at BMO field. It'll be as successful there as Montreal has been in getting out of the Olympic Stadium and into a classic venue like Molson Stadium.

To do that Ottawa and the City have to come up with some funding to make the field conform to CFL specs. I think its about $10 million.. but that's a pittance to retain a National Treasure like the CFL. You'll just have trouble convincing someone who cares as little about Canadian sovereignty, and is as contemptuous of its traditions as Stephen Harper.. that it would be money well spent.

Anyway.. Cograts to the Stampeders.. even though i think the TiCats got robbed when Banks' TD was called back. :)

btw.. i thought the halftime band... Imagine Dragons.. was terrific. It sounded something like the blues based music i listened to growing up instead of that hip hop 'stuff' (i call it junk).. that passes for music these days.

Why should any government subsidize stadium improvements for a private enterprise?

Virtually every Sports Franchise in the U.S.. and increasingly up here get huge hidden subsidies in tax incentives, or outright grants for stadiums.. often in the 100 of $millions.. because of the huge economic benefits that come from sports activities. The are instrumental in keeping downtowns vital. Ten mil is chicken feed to keep a historic franchise like the Argonauts viable.

I believe this practice should stop. Most NFL owners are dripping in cash and are esentially blackmailing their local jurisdictions to get more $$$.

Also, if the Argos die, the sooner we will get an NFL francise in Toronto.

That would be PATHETIC. In fact, it would be tragic.

My belief is there will NEVER be an NFL Franchise in Toronto. And some sensible and patriotic sources will be found to support the Argonauts at a fraction of the cost.. and in multiples of entertainment value.

Buffalo is close enough for an NFL team.. and they'll do it with a lot more passion and authenticity than we ever could.. especially in that hideous Roger's Centre.

You nailed it. Toronto needs to get out of that stadium.

My daughter listens to that band thus I hear them all the time. They were awesome.

Tough call on the punt but it had to be made.

In the Western Final Calgary players refused to touch the trophy in fear of jinxing winning the Grey Cup.

What sort of jinx is bestowed upon those who break the Grey Cup?

Based on the ticket sales when Buffalo comes to Toronto, I imagine the NFL is pretty lukewarm on TO
