He did tell her he he informed the RCMP. Whether he gave the details is unknown. He says yes, she says no. The real issue is that he revealed to the public the reason why he canned her. He did not have to do that. He could have left the RCMP deal with that.

If I should fire an employee, I do not tell everyone else that he's been fired, let alone why. If he's committed a crime, I turn it over to the police, but again I leave it to the police to decide whether to announce this. It's not up to me to ruin another person's reputation. the law decides that.

You make some valid points, especially if she is totally lying. If she's not and doesn't have a clue what she's being accused of, I still think (strictly from a common courtesy stand point) Harper should just tell her "you are being canned for sticky fingers in the coffee fund" or whatever the transgression was.

Of course he should tell her why he's canning her. That's just common courtesy. But as for us, we do need to know she's no longer a Cabinet Minister. However, we don't need to know if she quit or got fired, or why she quit, etc. That is none of our business. All we need to know is that she is no longer a Cabinet Minister. That's all.

Imagine if your employer gives you paid leave for a week and turns info over to the police to investigate whether you've committed a crime. You might accept that, and it's fair enough.

but now imagine your employer telling all your colleagues and everyone else why he'd given you that leave an about the investigation. You'd be beet red with rage. That's the difference. He can certainly give you a leave of absence or remove you from your position, and it's certainly within his right to turn whatever he wants to the police. It is totally disrespectful and ignorant and outright rude of him to tell all your colleagues. Let the police deal with that.

I feel she should run as an independent in her riding.

When you start to rub the caucus the wrong way there is usually a blowout.

Who knows Friday at 1:30 pm Canada might be in another election

I didn't want an election for awhile, but unless Harper is removed from the PMO, I'm itching for an election. I don't care if the CPC remains in power, but Harper's got to go and someone with a little more tact and wisdom and more respect for the House needs to take charge.

If there's another election, Harper might not be fighting the opposition parties, but members within his own party. I wouldn't be surprised if more than a few CPC members have tired of him.

You might be right all the Conservatives MPs would have a lot to say because the muzzle restricted them from saying anything.

But Harper has no fears because the shadow government would silence the Conservative critics.

I'd been saying the exact opposite, that Harper never should have informed me that there were criminal allegations against her because it was not my place to know that.

... Harper was compelled to offer her some form of rationale. He could not can her and not provide the basis of a reason... As she is a high profile public employee and the allegations were potentially criminal in nature or in breech of office, information was released to explain her departure.

And yes, it is definitely "your place" to be informed why an elected official is being dismissed, particularly if it involves criminal activity.

Now as for the Afghan documents, each and every MP has a right to those otherwise there is no more democracy and accountability in our system. Personal matters ought to be kept personal, while political matters ought to be made public, or at least to the House. This Pm does the exact opposite. He doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between political and personal matters.

I don't know where this came from, but while personal matters are personal and political matters are public, where do you think that military matters falls in this spectrum?

So I'm expected to act in a certain way to not be associated with this or that party? So, pray tell, how do you expect a non-Liberal to behave so that you not confuse him for a Liberal?

I have never associated you with any political party, you have made that association all on your own and can't get over it.

Seems that Rahim needs more time to straighten out his story or stories - poor fellow. So many stories - perhaps fiction will be his next venture.

Rahim Jaffer wants more time before second grilling

After his disastrous first appearance at a Commons committee in April, former Tory MP Rahim Jaffer is asking for a time-out so he can prepare for his next stint in the hot seat.
Mr. Jaffer was scheduled to appear Wednesday at the government operations committee, which has been studying allegations that he illegally lobbied his former colleagues. His wife, former junior cabinet minister Helena Guergis, was also slated to appear but bowed out earlier this week citing a health issue.
Mr. Jaffer's new lawyer told the committee in a letter that he needed time to meet with his client and go over the information and testimony that had been aired at the committee.

I am just a poor boy,
my story seldom told.
Or believed I would think.
