Did they specify that BP's 'shoddy track record' was in regards to active operations in the oil sands, or were they discussing the history of BP's operations there?

A 'track record' would suggest past performance, which has nothing to do with currently active operations.

Yes, the commentary identified their record in terms of conventional and oil sands... Obviously, the oil sands component was an error.

On that note; everyone makes mistakes, however, Tremonti is a professional and she would (or should) have familiarized herself with the issue and related elements as it applied to BP.

Do you have proof?

Just asking, I have heard this accusation many times but have never seen it.

Just my observations based on listening to the station... Although I have my problems with the CBC, there are certain newscasts and music that I appreciate.

What stands-out as problematic for me is that the CBC has a noticeable political bent and for a public broadcaster, I see that as a significant conflict of interest.

Still, can you give me proof?

Just asking.

Fair enough... Perhaps they have a library of old shows you could look into. The program I was referring to was The Current on Wednesday morning (I believe it was that day).

Other than that, I can't think of how I an prove it.

Very honest of you.

Thanks for that.

I can point to one show I saw about Israel, can't remember the name of the program but in the beginning it seemed very pro-Palestinian but that was the hook and line...the sinker was very different.

Virtually every country in the world has a public radio/TV network. I think Australia has two. The U.S has several. All those people screaming for the CBC's demise don't know what they are asking. Do they really want us to get all our news from Global or one of the other American networks? We know how accurate FOX news is. The CBC provides an important service to people up north and in outlying communities. These services were offered to CTV and some of the others but they didn't want any part of them. No money in providing service I guess. The CBC provides service and education in eight aboriginal languages. Who can replace that

Well said #Juan, C.B.C. radio spends a lot of air interviewing Canadians, how much closer to the truth can you get than that? A lot of it is with marginalized and disenfranchised people. Would Fox have time for them?

"Who wants to pay for satellite if they don't have to?"

Well, I DO NOT want to pay for their service.

And as long as CBC is alive, I AM paying for their service.
