A survey has shown that Britons who are over 55 are more skeptical about climate change than their peers in other nations.

Almost a quarter – 23 per cent – of Britons aged 55 or above agreed or strongly agreed that many of the claims about environmental threats are exaggerated.

This compared with 14 per cent in the United States and 13 per cent in Australia. Perhaps needless to say, Canadians in that age group are the ones in these Anglo-Saxon countries surveyed which are the least skeptical about climate change - just 7 per cent of over 55s in Canada agreed or strongly agreed that many of the claims about environmental threats are exaggerated.

And 22 per cent of Brits aged 55 or above agreed or strongly agreed that people worry too much about the environment and not enough about prices and jobs, compared with 11 per cent of Australians, 9 per cent of Americans and just 5 per cent of gullible Canadians.

More than 1,000 people aged 55 or over - nearly three quarters of them 55 to 69 - responded to the online survey. The greatest number of respondents were from the UK followed by Australia, Canada and the U.S.

Only 20% of those in the UK were very concerned about the effects of climate change on their country, compared to 60 per cent in Australia, 57 per cent in Canada and 50 per cent in the U.S.

Four in ten UK respondents agreed or strongly agreed that ‘In order to protect the environment, this country needs economic growth’.

This was slightly less than in the U.S. (42 per cent) but again well ahead of Australia (28 per cent) and Canada (22 per cent).

That it says nothing about the methodology is revealing. That it is the Daily Mail Online says more. There seems to be no report of such a survey suggests that it is an online survey by the Daily Mail and that would be sufficient reason to dismiss it. The Daily Mail prints virtually only denial sources.

That the commentary comes from the sociologist, Benny Peiser, on behalf of the denial Institute, the GWPF, raises flags.

However, it does not matter much. All recent surveys show that large majorities of people in those countries do accept AGW. Even a small majority of Republicans now do.

Actually, gravity (as a force) is fake.

Say two planes start off with a 1 km north-south separation and start flying due East. If they fly in straight lines (with respect to the Earth's surface), they will eventually cross paths and collide. That is all gravity is: an apparent acceleration of neighbouring objects due to the curvature of space.

That's what I was taught over a half-century ago. Mind you, all my instructors are dead. Seems this curvature-of-space thing is fatal to believers. Take care, Niflmir!
