Every single time in the history of "Western Civilization" that the circle of "people," i.e. those who are equal before the law, was widened, there's been some terrified bigot screaming that it's the End of the World As We Know It. Nobles. Commoners. Foreigners. Blacks. Jews. Catholics. Women. Indians. Now gays.
20 years nobody'll know what the fuss is all about, and the remaining drooling, terrified octogenarians shrieking their fear will receive nothing but eye-rolls.
