Yep. This is why Putin insists only the UN can act on Syria:

On July 19, Russia vetoed a resolution calling on Assad to implement UN Envoy Kofi Annan’s peace plan, saying it would “fan the flames of confrontation,” as if the war could get any worse. The vote went 11 to 2 against Russia, with 2 abstentions. As Britain’s UN ambassador rightly noted, Russia and China failed in their duty as veto-wielding states to help resolve the crisis, failed to support the UN peace plan and failed to help the Syrian people. The French were even more bluntly critical, saying that Russia clearly wanted to “win time for the Syrian regime to smash the opposition.”

Earlier, on Feb. 4, Russia also vetoed a resolution calling on Assad to call off his troops and accept a “Syrian-led political process” to end the war, claiming it sent an “unbalanced” message. That vote went 13 to 2 against Russia. And last Oct. 4, Russia vetoed a similar resolution, saying it didn’t like its “accusatory tone.” That vote was 9 to 2 against Russia with 4 abstentions.

At every turn, Putin’s government has abused its Security Council veto to overrule a strong consensus in favour of action to end the war, rendering the council irrelevant. Putin has given Assad political cover, blocked efforts to force a ceasefire, and shielded a despot from paying a price for his violence. Putin’s demand that Obama respect the United Nations is a joke, when he has so consistently undermined it.

Putin writes a letter to the POTUS and board Yanks spend the rest of the page discussing things like Putin's past and his bank account. It sounds like children tattling to mom about what somebody else did when they get caught. That kind of stupid is why America is so morally bankrupt today. Why can't they address the issues in Putin's letter? One is tempted to think that they don't understand it?

Yep the letter- Wait to see what and how this turns out before you get all excited, like a little school girl.

News reports today state that US and Russian negotiators worked out a deal. Any bets that Obama and Putin scripted it from the start? Far too subtle for right wing extremist thinking, but that is part of why the old GOP is on the way out. Not only has its own ideology rendered it obsolete, the oncoming US Hispanic demographic shift has doomed it.
