Apparently homosexuals are the cause of the bridge collapse recently in Minnesota, according to Fred.

This guy amazes me, he attributes just about any tragedy in the US to homosexuals... I think he should be sent to Gitmo for a decade or two.

Fred Phelps Is Coming

by: Eric Black

Tue Aug 07, 2007 at 10:27:54 AM

The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., plans to stage protests at funerals of victims of the 35W bridge collapse to state that God made the bridge fall because he hates America, and especially Minnesota, because of its tolerance of homosexuality. The church and its pastor, the Rev. Fred Phelps, have become notorious over recent years for their claim that the attack of 9/11 was an act of God's vengeance and their determination to make that case at the funerals of U.S. soldiers who died in Iraq.
In a press release issued the day after the bridge collapse, the church called for protests at the funerals and outlined its feelings about the relationship between God's plan and the sins of Minneapolis and Minnesota, which it calls the "land of the Sodomite damned."
Reached at the church, Shirley Phelps Roper, who is both the daughter of the pastor and one of the attorneys for the church, said that America, and Minnesota especially, have alienated God by its tolerance for homosexuality, and that the bridge collapse was an act of God's vengeance. She said:
"The bridge stood in place by the word of God and it fell by the word of God...Each of these little events is just a harbinger of the coming destruction of this American experiment. We are delivering the final call of the doomed nation."
She said, as they have done for years, members of the church would stand "lawfully and peacefully on the public right of way" near the funerals and "put in the air words of praying and instruction and warning." The signs that the protesters will wave will read:
"God cast down the bridge... Thank God for 9/11... America is doomed... God hates fags... God hates fag enablers... God hates Minnesota."

I hope some of those jackasses get run over. Protesting at funerals is beyond pathetic.

Is this the same group that planned to protest the funerals of the fallen US soldiers when their bodies were returned?:angryfire:

It boggles my mind that seemingly rational adults can actually think this way. Someone ought to drag every one of them outside and disconnect their dome lights!

Hi Cosmo....

Yeah.

My aforementioned brother was taping an episode of Six Feet Under that dealt with guys like this......for use in one of his lectures. I said "Oh, come on! People don't really do this....."

He showed me their website.......

OMG!

I'm not sure I could restrain myself from filling a couple of extra holes were I at a funeral when this kind of thing took place........and I'm a good-ole-boy heterosexual Baptist.

i can't really articulate this but these fundamentalist that actually believe in God the Creator don't see Homosexuality in the grand scheme of things....It's ridiculous....I am heteral sexual ...i just don't dig having sex with guys...But i actually really like gay guys. They are different and bring gentleness/artiistic/intellect that is obviously differnet and very much good for the world we live in....again i can't articulate what i'm trying to say....I actually learned how to better treat people from a gay guy that i did not know was gay and was my friend....one night i sort got clued in and went balistic.....i treated him awful....we worked through it.
It's a hard thing for me to relay to you but the way this guy just approached life and people was different than me...i learned a lot on how to treat people is all...he smoothed out a lot of my rough edges...we are still friends. It's sort of wierd cause my wife knows he had a crush on me and well.....we don't see each other as much....

then he opened up a whole other underground party thing in toronto for me....the peolple i met were just the best of the best...interesting beyond belief.....man i could tell you some awesome all night closed booze canish parties...But it was like you really got past everyone's sexual preferance it became a non issue for me and you just got to know the person.....

If there is a God creator definatly God thought up the gay thing for a purpouse......one day we shall not have to even talk about it in this way...but alas thats a far far away place in time....

I saw a video of these creeps at a soldier's funeral. It was actually taken by the phelp's people and the police had to rush them back into their van as family members and town members surrounded them. A funeral for a soldier became what reminded me of those IRA funerals of old know what I mean?

There is a counter group made up mostly of bikers that show up whereever phelps and his idiots announce that they will be there to protest this soldier or that soldier. He notifies the media and police to ensure a lot of cameras. The bikers make sure these people are kept at a far distance from the family and the ceremony.

I know the key members of the Phelps family are mainly lawyers and litigious. However, have any of them been physically assaulted while involved in their protests? And if they haven't, is this a reflection of their jobs or the cowardice of the American public?

Yep, I guess they really do that kind of thing. I've been pretty lucky since I'm outspoken enough that it takes a pretty big bully to say anything to me about being a dyke but there are the snide comments and behind-the-back b.s. I'm not sure how I'd deal with Phelps but I suspect there would be bloodshed.

Nice to see ya Colpy! I've missed yer right leaning behind! ;)

I should hope there's not a father in the country that doesn't scale court barriers to assault the molester of his children. In fact, it's normal courtroom fare - on the news again last night. The rage is appropriate, the action taken instantly appreciated. Court redress seldom imposed.
I expect as much and more from those witnessing the protests of the Phelps at functions that are fully expected to be free of their poison and taint.
And maybe, just maybe, if this road was taken far fewer families would have to face this outrage.
