not the point. they want to prevent it.

these idiots out there might come up with something that the current security teams havent' thought of!

how do you know?

they might some day come up with a liquid that they can poor on themselves that could explode when the air from the plane fans come on! or when their body temperature goes up.

:-? What are you, High?

Yeah and there might be some day when my farts repair the Ozone..... there might be some day when the Amish take over the world.... There might be a day coming soon where Bananas grow a brain and tell us the meaning to life if we stop eating them.

maybe they're suicide bombers who will drink something that is perfectly harmless to them but when mixed with a drink or alcohol served on the plane or food they eat will cause a reaction that blows them up and the plane with them!

if you sit back and say "if if if.." maybe you should be thinking "when when when..."!!

I believe there's a country out there that does interviews with EVERY person that is going to be flying on plane.. no exceptions.

why not?

Weren't you already complaining about people refusing to get scanned or searched slowing down air traffic and thus that's why they should suck it up or not fly?

Doing the above would slow things down even longer...... and an interview doesn't prove someone is a threat or not either and people would be rejected from flying not because of evidence or facts, but due to assumptions and opinions over how someone didn't look at you the right way or answer a question the way you wanted.

^ Yet another failure of an idea that would solve nothing.

That's why.

ok well, that's fine. just don't fly then..

Sorry, that doesn't make you automatically win the argument..... nor do I remember any specific person dying and making you Dictator of the Skies.

And you're just the man to do it! :D

What's the matter?

Ran out of sh*t arguments?

wasn't indicating that it wins the argument.

i'm just saying you can either go and deal with how they do their business.. or you just don't fly.

blah. typical American quote.

don't want to give up any freedoms at all, even if it just might make sense!

If somebody can show me how it makes sense, I'd be willing to give up some freedoms. Maybe that is where folks like you should start. Explain how much safer I am today because of all this nonsense.

So is "it's a necessity for Security!"

If it makes reasonable sense, sure.... but none of the above is reasonable in anyway.

Notice how you're pretty well on the losing side of the argument and very few agree with your point of view?

yet, the vast majority of Americans agree with me.. so

then perhaps you should check the news.

they know already that 75% of Americans think it's fine.

To add to Spade's counter-source:

Poll: Majority oppose body scans, nearly half seek alternative to flying
Poll: Majority oppose body scans, nearly half seek alternative to flying | Raw Story

The use of backscatter x-ray machines to scan travelers' bodies and new pat down procedures at airports will cause 48% of Americans to seek an alternative means of transportation, according to a Zogby International poll.

Of the 2,032 likely voters polled between November 19 and November 22, 61 percent said they oppose the use of body scanners and pat downs.

The findings of the Zogby poll strikingly contradict an earlier poll of 1,137 adults conducted by CBS News

November 7 to November 10. That poll found only 15 percent of respondents were opposed to the use of body scanners at airport security checkpoints, with four out of five saying they're in favor.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll of 514 adults conducted on November 21 found over half of respondents supported the use of body scanners and 70 percent supported the use of profiling at airports.

Another poll, conducted by USA TODAY/Gallup and published today, found that most travelers are bothered or angered by pat downs.

A growing number of people are concerned about invasions of privacy and possible health effects of new body scanners being used by the Transportation Security Agency (TSA).

"They say the risk is minimal, but statistically someone is going to get skin cancer from these x-rays," Dr. Michael Love, who runs an x-ray lab at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, said.......

________________________________________________________________________

Sorry but skin cancer is the least of the concerns with these scanners..... and they're not X-Rays, they're T-Rays.
________________________________________________________________________
...... Those who choose to opt out of a body scan face an "enhanced" pat down procedure that has been described as nothing short of molestation.

Republicans and Independents are more opposed to the new body scans and pat downs than Democrats, with 69 percent of Republicans and 65 percent of Independents opposing them, compared to only 50 percent of Democrats.

The poll also found that men were slightly more opposed than women, with 63 percent of men and 60 percent of women opposing the TSA's new checkpoint procedures.

In addition, 52 percent of respondents think the new security procedures will not prevent terrorist activity, 48 percent consider it a violation of privacy rights and 32 percent consider it to be sexual harassment.

"It is clear the majority of Americans are not happy with TSA and the enhanced security measures recently enacted," said pollster John Zogby. "The airlines should not be happy with 42 percent of frequent flyers seeking a different mode of transportation due to these enhancements."........

.......One traveler at Lindbergh Field was so fed up with the new procedures he stripped down to his underwear to avoid a pat down,
NBC San Diego reported. He was arrested for refusing to put his clothes back on.

"TSA needs to see that I'm not carrying any weapons, explosives, or other prohibited substances, I refuse to have images of my naked body viewed by perfect strangers, and having been felt up for the first time by TSA the week prior, I was not willing to be molested again," he said in a statement released by his attorney Sunday.......

________________________________________________________________________

So it sounds like it's a lot more of an issue then you'd like to make it out to be Chili..... and the majority do not see it as you do.

The pat downs are no longer your grazing of the under arms and legs like what I went through a couple of months ago..... now they get to roll your testicles around in their hands and finger your vagina to ensure you don't have bombs..... they get to grab your boobs and shake them around, feel all over your ass and pretty well can do anything they damn well please to you and your body, regardless of how degrading and offensive it is.

Molestation isn't far from the truth..... it is the truth.

But if you enjoy getting molested by complete strangers so you can feel safe, normally I would say all the power to you..... but then what does this teach children about safety and security when they're subjected to these procedures?

Oh well what that priest did to me wasn't wrong.... he was just making sure I wasn't a terrorist like those guys at the airport.

Sorry, you can't come into the tree house until we pat you down for security measures.... drop your pants, turn your head and cough.

Hang on, I can't let you ladies into the bar until I pat you down and search your skimpy outfits...... security reasons and all.......

A grassroots effort that began with a single Web page exhorting air travelers to decline body scans has become a full-fledged Internet sensation that has the uncommon distinction of officially irking the Transportation Security Administration.
The idea behind National Opt-Out Day is simple: on the day before Thanksgiving, when screening lines stretch so far they seem to snake back on themselves like an ouroboros, Americans should opt out of what critics call "pornoscans." Instead, they should choose a police-style pat-down instead, which will take TSA screeners far longer to complete.
TSA head John Pistole initially called the idea "irresponsible" in a statement last week. At a breakfast meeting with reporters yesterday, he moderated his criticisms and warned there was the "potential" for slowdowns if the opt-out protest is widespread.
