I am a compulsive rule follower. If there's a sign, I feel sick to my stomach disobeying it.
But let's be serious. Running a red light on a deserted road is not an infraction that deserves national attention.

True, Karrie..........but let's face it her timing couldn't have been worse in the face of this latest 'accident.'
What I have learned by watching Canada's Worst Driver.
1 - How to properly place my hands on the steering wheel in order to have control over the vehicle at all times
2 - How to properly 'look' at the road ahead and not at what is right in front of the car - surprising what a difference this made when I first started practicing it. Now my curves are smooth as silk.
3- How to steer in any type of skid. This one took some practice - thank heavens for all our back roads.
4 - How to back-up using just my mirrors. Another one that took a bit of practice.
5 - How to properly use my mirrors and look over my shoulders when contemplating a lane change.
6 - How to steer around obstacles at various speeds.
and lastly,
7 - No matter how well prepared I may be, every time I get behind the wheel of Gaia Blue, I am putting my life in the hands of the Universe.

Gerry does make a good point- but we the public at time make decisions based upon probability. We also make decisions based on how fast the driver was going-
If we went by probability alone- Odds would say this accident was not caused by a medical event- does that mean it was not -no.
The main thing in my opinion when accidents like this occur- when the driver was at fault - taking multiple lives - and as I understand the 5 that died were from 3 generations in the same family- is that the penalty assigned by our Judicial system - jail time is low.
Myself- I drive like there is some a-s-s out there wanting to kill me- They just do not know it- But I do-
Do drunk drivers intend to kill people? This isn't any different. If he caused the accident due to not stopping at the stop sign for any reason except for medical distress, then he needs to face serious jail time. Stop signs are there for a reason.
Of course, this being Canada I don't expect a jail sentence of any real length if he is determined to be fully at fault.
The Dodge Minivan not only drove through the Toyota Corrola, cutting it in half, it went another two hundred yards after the collision. It is obvious that horrific speed was involved. Police have confirmed that the Minivan driver ran the red light.
