Number one beneficiary of marijuana legalization in Canada has been the banks as consumers have transitioned from cash to credit card transactions.

Politicians go with the flow. Legal or not. To think of prison for a joint and now the provincial website has a how to get started tab. Legislation based on the direction of the wind.

With any luck it never will. Russia, China, Cuba and a long list of other thugocracies are examples of what happens when communists overrun countries.George Orwell was pretty close to the mark on the evils of communism.

Ever read their garbage? It is controlled by the NDPee, which is next to being communist themselves.

I guess I've just come across information about what communism is supposed to be and it's nothing like the NDP, trust me.

That's why we don't have it or never will because it has nothing to do with any government authority, apparently.

Pretty sure we can agree it's socialism at least and leave it at that.

A socialist is just a communist in an Armani suit. Then too for the most part the BC NDPee are way farther out in left field than the federal party.

NDP sticking to their " the people don't want an election" story. Two years of the term already done. It's a wonderful life.

BMO reporting record $2.1 billion profit for Q1. Loan loss provisions that they invented last year playing a part. When you think about only 60 working days it is truly an incredible number. Four more reporting soon.

If someone was really doing an analysis of the Canadian economy they might highlight the disproportionate amount of profit leaving the economy through Canadian banks, despite the world class accounting. Beyond the purview saves the Bank of Canada from having to enforce restrictions.

Politicians are paid as much as they are primarily to look the other way from their mutually beneficial friends business and focus on distractions like language and human rights debates. Stir the passion and numb the brain. It's pathetic.

From one year ago,

Note that it is the US Justice Department and the US Commodities Futures Trading Commission that initiated and brought charges. Nothing at all from Canada. The $127 million was like water off a duck's back and they had prepared earlier to pay the fine. Sounds like the cost of doing business imo.

That is why Toronto is the big financial center that it is.

RBC reports a $4 billion quarterly profit. TD not far behind at $3.7 b.

Works out to about $70 million in profit per day which is a very decent 8 hour shift.

Too much imo. Meanwhile Trudeau makes atonement for an 80 year old wrong doing. Imagine the money the future generations will have to pony up given his bizarre mismanagement.

Oh well, no point in letting it spoil the day.
