The joke that the English like to tell is that they keep beating Germany at their national sport.

I heard a rumor that Blather is stepping down as chief of FIFA - prolly cause he pocketed plenty of cash and stashed it somewhere in a tax free Swiss account.

... and if, in the unlikely event that there would be a repeat engagement at either, you don't stand a chance, anymore

Yeah? What has the German military got nowadays that would stand a chance against the British military? In 2014, Britain spent almost $62 billion - 2.1% of its - GDP on defence whereas Germany spent just $43.9 billion and 1.1% of its GDP on defence. Also, unlike Britain, Germany does not have an arsenal of nuclar weapons.

Britain is the EU's predominant military power and Germany would, yet again, find itself on the losing side in a war between the two.

The overall head too head record between the two sides is fairly evenly matched.

If you count Germany and West Germany - Germany football team is the successor to West Germany football team - then the two sides have played each other 29 times, stretching back to 1930, with Germany winning 14 times, England winning 12 times, and with three draws.

And then there was also the East Germany team which played from 1952 until 1990, when it was disbanded. England and East Germany played each other four times between 1963 and 1984 with England winning three of them with the other one being drawn.

Germany has four World Cups. How many does England have?

Septic Bladder has resigned, just four days into his fifth term as FIFA President.

It may not be until September at the earliest that the next presidential campaign starts, and it may not be until the first half of next year that FIFA gets a new president. Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan, who lost against Blatter in Friday's presidential election, is to stand in it again.

Former Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Everton star David Ginola, briefly a candidate earlier this year, is also to stand.

It cheated to win at least one of them (1954; players taking performing enhancing drugs for the final against overwhelming favourites Hungary) and likely cheated to win it last year, too, if the rumours are correct (German authorities bribing the game's officials in the final against Argentina).

You didn't think that football isn't corrupt, did you?

Unlike the English, who are renowned for their sense of fair play. The English never cheat. But they do always get referees who favour their opponents.
