Yeah that’s crazy and it’s something that you didn’t see before, but it’s common now, in certain places, etc…
The last decade has not being kind out here.
…& that’s maybe 10 city blocks from our home. SCAN is overwhelmed, the City Police turn a blind eye as that’s about two city blocks from the main police station.

"Fine option" will be busy this spring. I'd make the junkies clean up the mess for "safe supply".
But in the meantime…
Plus harassment, plus crime from assaults to everything not bolted down to the things that go missing even when bolted down, etc…& the threats and the general feeling of a lack of security and the trails of garages and filth….to the increasing interactions with police who look down on you because the neighbourhoods are going to shit (like it’s our fault that we work & can’t stay ahead of the junkies) in ways that where unimaginable a decade ago.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre announced Sunday that he will fund centre-based addictions care for 50,000 Canadians if he becomes prime minister.
Poilievre said in the video that a Conservative government will budget an average of $250 million per year for four years to fund residential recovery centres that provide medium- to long-term care to those struggling with addictions.
Part of this sum will be rerouted from $144 million in federal dollars currently earmarked for programs like safer supply, he said.
Poilievre also said he expected some of this funding to be recouped from government lawsuits against the opioid manufacturers that “caused the (opioid) crisis in the first place.”
He added that he’ll downsize the federal bureaucracy managing addictions and ban “pro-drug organizations” from receiving federal funds.
“No middlemen, no bureaucracy, just real help for those who need it,” said Poilievre.

But druggies have rights. Actually, you have rights too. The right to pay taxes or lose your house. Pay taxes so addicts can have free drugs. Except diabetics, of course. Most of them have jobs, so they can buy their own lifesaving medicine. You have the right to pay for everything you own and the right to watch some druggie pack it off with immunity. You have the right to be convicted of a hate crime by the Human Rights Tribunal when you take your stuff back from a druggie. etc.etc.
And if the powers that be recover your stolen items they hold onto them for evidentiary purposes.
Recovering stolen goods seems to be way down on the priority list for the police as they’re absolutely swamped. I’ve seen junkies wheeling someone’s recycling bin down the street (and it obviously weighs a couple hundred pounds because it bangs on every crack it passes over) with golf club sticking out the top…& the police just aren’t interested…& I think it’s because they’re busy doing things like just trying to keep the lid on.
