Fast Food Commercials: truth in advertising?

Ok we all see them on tv, the commercials for

McDonalds
Wendys
Burger King
A&W
Jack in the Box

and so on

notice one thing that you never see?

Obese people!

they show a Burger King Commercial with 30 guys marching down the road for their NEW breakfast menu, yet not one of them is fat/Obese!

they show a McDonalds Commercial? 0 obese people!

same goes with all the others.

they show in-shape, skinny people eating their food!


so why not have a commercial where they have 2 fat guys sitting at a booth at McDonalds eating a Cheeseburger for the 5th straight day!..

ya I know that they won't do that..

They never show people crying, or fighting, or anything else that shows less than a happy image. But that's all advertising, not just fast food.

About a week or two ago I had a conversation with a gentleman who is about 10 years older than I am. We discussed how in the past people ate plenty of lard in their foods and, despite all that fat, you never heard of anyone being obese. For example, my dad love fried foods and lived to be 80 years of age. Others in the family (and extended family) ate just as much lard/fat and have lived long lives. But nobody was or is obese.

Why? Because we eat natural foods. And contrary to what you have read or want to believe, lard is natural food! I eat a ton of bacon every year and my cholesterol level is just about perfect. During my last medical exam in May of this year the doctor told me he expects me to be around for a long time. This because my diet is good food, not fast ''food'' [sic] garbage.

Trash like McDonald's, BK, Arby's, etc are unnatural. Eat that crap and you gain weight and die young. Any parent who takes their kids to eat that manure should be punished on the grounds of cruelty and abuse.

yea I eat food cooked at home. no salt, low fat.

In the city where I am living. almost my friends and neighbors (employments), they eat fast food or other foods in the restaurants for their lunch nearly every working days. They really know the fast food might be the cause of their obese and other risk of health, they really want to cook foods at home, but they have no free times to do so at noon. we do not confirm to associate with some disease and fast foods. unless it is diagnosed in short term and you make sure that where you have eaten the foods IMD. It is generally a troublesome thing for us. Composing the factors of healthy are really a complex problem, such as the living and working environment, polution, personel emotion, of cause the diet etc. In fact, someone knows that the fast food be likely to lead their obese, but why not they stopping eating it, maybe for its smell , taste, faster etc. Whether or not we will eat the fast food in a long term, until we find a better substitute. Except to appeal the Fast Food Commercials ensuring foods in safety, we should apply ourself to investigate some better solutions, such as lunch-box (cooked food at home)or another ways IMHO.

I cannot but to mention it here; It is really a good forum and many good threads and ideas here. I really know something that I never know and learn some knowledge here that involve some new words,such as IMO, IMHO (Bcool used these two in his thread,and thank you Bcool). :smile:but I know that I probably made some mistakes in my sentences, and I have no hostility if there are some insufficiencies.

well, I think Someone in society who has money and influence will need to step it up one day and change things.. whether it is by making a healthy food restaurant at reasonable prices, creating an easy way to make eating good foods easy and accomodating!.. perhaps putting one of his stores whereever there is a McDonalds or Wendy's BK, etc etc.

No, people have to want to change. There's no point in making people change, if they don't want to.

Search for and watch the video "Supersize me"...,it's an eyeoopener when a healthy guy, under Doctor's care, eats nothing but 3 meals a day at McDonalds

After I saw that and not being at McDonald;s for over 8 years, I went for a big Mac...just for the H*** of it.

I cannot belive that I used to like them---it was awful.... slimy, tasteless, not at all like meat (maybe it wasn't) and just that oone has affected my taste of (all) foods ever since--chicken, pork, pizza..................

Oh my! How I wish I hadn't gone, for that 'just a test".
