The question: who are the fascists here?

Hard to tell without actually hearing the speeches they made.

Were they inciting violence?

One doubts it, as that was not the charge.

And the UK has a very bad record on this...........a politician making a campaign speech was actually arrested for quoting Winston Churchill, fer God's sake............certainly the greatest Briton of the 20th Century.

Election candidate arrested over Churchill speech - Telegraph

A pub singer was arrested for singing the silly song Kung Fu Fighting.

Simon Ledger arrested for 'racism' after performing Kung Fu Fighting | Daily Mail Online

The inevitable conclusion is that the Britain First party's speeches are the least of the UK's problem.

The real fascists sit in Whitehall.

“We are banning extremists from the Muslim community, the likes of Anjem Choudary, so it is right that the policy is applied equally."

Makes sense to me if you're wanting to ban people and that is one of the reasons Trumpites lack credibility...and not just Trumpites...the Flossy's of this world are no better.

Not the same thing.

On 5 August 2015, Choudary was charged with one offence under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 for inviting support of a proscribed organisation, namely Islamic State, between June 2014 and March 2015.[80][81] An expected trial date of 7 March 2016 was given,[82] but the trial was postponed to 27 June 2016, and was expected to last no more than four weeks.[83] Choudary was convicted on 28 July 2016.[10][84] At the Old Bailey on 6 September 2016, Mr Justice Holroyde sentenced Choudary to five years and six months in prison, telling him that he had "crossed the line between the legitimate expression of your own views and a criminal act".[85]

Not quite the same, I suspect.......although we can't tell without hearing the Britain First speeches.

So Colpy would be okay with this if Britain didn't have bigger problems lol

So, as well as being an idiot, you can't read.

That really isn't the question. Britain First are universally identified as facsists. They are self avowed facsists.

Also he is not being charged with inciting violence.

" ...charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour."

Uttering threats is definitely a problem. But I doubt that is what happened.

But "abusive or insulting words or behaviour"? That is just bullsyte. The end of liberty.

Once again, as I've said, it is hard to tell if these charges are legitimate without hearing the speeches. But the UK has a very bad history of BS charges, and are slowly becoming what Orwell predicted in 1984.

As for Britain First are universally identified as fascists. They are self avowed fascists. Bullshyte. They may be way too far right, and nationalist, but they are certainly not self avowed as fascist.

And even if they were fascists, the elimination of their right to free speech solely on the basis of the political ideology is completely unacceptable.

I would not not argue that the Brits are the Big Brother threat.

Their anti - terrorism measures (which this is probably tied into) are very invasive and questionable.

Can you expand on how free speech is the biggest issue of our time?

You know, other than the horrors of putting Nazis in jail?

I'm not a Nazi.

But I'll pose my question again for the libertarians:

What is the evidence that free speech is the biggest issue of our time?

I keep telling everyone .... all these ant-terror laws are being introduced in order to control an extremely angry population within all democratic countries. At least 75 percent of all terrorist convictions in the US involved entrapment of some sort. As the homegrown terrorism (civil unrest) grows, all the court precedents are being set up (bail terms, sentencing, etc) before mass arrests begin to take place.

In Canada, 70 percent of the population believes that they and their kids have no future. A complete reversal from 1980.

We are not being told about how very acute the anger and resentment is on the streets.
