There's the anthropic argument: if the universe created the same amounts of matter and anti-matter, the whole thing would have annihilated itself and we wouldn't be here to talk about it.

True enough, but it doesn't really explain anything beyond the tautological "if things were different then things would be different." The Standard Model neither predicts nor explains the preponderance of matter over antimatter, it predicts the creation of both in equal amounts. Why that isn't so remains one of the big mysteries.
