I agree with Walter. I'm gonna dump a couple of barrels of used motor oil into the stream to celebrate Earth Day.

Global media coverage (of course; air travel, vehicles with 1 or 2 passengers to get to the venue and lots of hotel rooms), massive energy spent on networks, satellite uplinks and 100's of millions turning on the TV to watch the festivities ain't exactly eco-friendly.

Might as well dump some tranny fluid into te nearby creek for all the good that this circus will provide

Yeah, I know, it's a great way to marginalise and try to silence people working for better environmental policies. Basically, you set up the fallacious premise that anyone who is using any more energy than needed to stay alive (or any energy at all) is a hypocrite if she advocates better environmental policy. It's just argumentum ad hominem again.

Earth Day is April 22, also V. I. Lenin's birthday. I'll prolly be planting peas and radishes if the frost is out of the ground.

Right now I am in a camp within pissing distance of Alcan's generating station. Doubt too many lights will be turned off here.

So.. No tangible rebuttal so the next best thing is to whine that you're being 'silenced'.

BTW - the movement marginalized themselves the moment that they fabricated data and engaged in a program of misleading the public

What is the enviro policy of the Earth Day people?.. Something like, developed countries = bad; therefore, transfer money to undeveloped nations?

Yeah - that'll heal ole Mother Gaia

Stop silencing TB here...

You should be ashamed that you are marginalizing the movement

I'm not being silenced. I don't do the "Earth hour" thing. But assume anything you like.

Wow, that's even better. Attribute the "fabrication" by one group to the entire "movement," i.e., everyone who wants any sort of environmental policy, and call them all liars.

What is the enviro policy of the Earth Day people?.. Something like, developed countries = bad; therefore, transfer money to undeveloped nations?
Define "Earth Day people."

Yeah - that'll heal ole Mother Gaia
No, what'll really help is if we repeal all anti-pollution laws. They're all liars anyway, right?

OK, so there's no need for any kind of environmental control.

Well, you've convinced me.

Find the nicest park you can and trample the soil into pavement, buy souvenirs like Peruvian finger puppets from trendy vendors while drinking rainforest coffee with a frog content of at least 60%.

Sounds like the 'save the planet' eco-party and concert that Midnight Oil played in Clayoquot Sound Protest.

Turned the entire area into a raw-sewage-infested, mud bowl.

Sounds like any and all Occupy movements. I flush my movements but sometimes it takes more than one flush.

Earth day is the biggest joke so far No I won't celebrate it but if some feel
sitting around in the dark is something they want to do well everyone needs
something to do.
