karrie, of course you are right the Catholic Church came and
changed all the names of the holidays so the people would be
assimilated into the new believe system. That damn Martin
Luther, just disrupted everything didn't he. Druids have been
around for a long time, and I suppose they will be around for
a long time to come. It is funny how one group will steal all
the holidays from various groups and then call them savages.

According to the little actually known of them, they kept no known written doctrine all was orally taught and passed down & no archeological evidence has been found definitively identified as of a Druid, I have me doubts about the present version being anywhere close to the authentic but a Hollywood version. No women Druids for starters. All who wrote of them at their time which was during the Celtic reign in Gaul and Britain & the folklore, words and placenames especially in Ireland and Wales, whilst disagreeing vehemently on many things regarding them, agree on the totally male heirarchy. Julius Caesar is credited with possibly giving the most factual though maybe slightly tweaked account of them in his "Commentarii de Bello Gallico": "Commentaries Of The Gallic Wars": Commentaries on the Gallic War - Wikisource
