the father said so

it was a mix of alcohol and pills, the whole family is having trouble coping understandably...the dad found him dead in his bed and he was only 23, by the time he found him, there was no bringing him back ....it is beyond tragic

Was he a drug abuser?<--- Nevermind.

From the article in the OP...

"And then, six months after the funeral, he awoke to find his second son Devon, 23, who had just graduated as a paralegal, laying in his bed, blue and dead, after popping too many pills and drinking too many shots. Not an intended suicide, they are certain — he was just trying to stifle his grief."

I hope that not only do they lose but have the countersuit successful to the tune of a few million plus expenses. I also hope there is an investigation into how a cop and his wife who just ran over 3 people were allowed to leave and the possibility one or both of them may have been intoxicated and given special treatment because he was a cop. Failing all that I hope one dark night somebody just walks up and kicks her hard in the c*nt with a pointy boot a couple of times!

Oops thanks for clearing that up.

Certainly the fact he was a cop does not look good. And a separate lawsuit? He is a real d-i-c-k as well. At least they have each other. I hope they spend a fortune on lawyer fees and have it thrown out and have to pay for the victim's lawyer fees as well.

The driver's husband was a cop. Well there you have it!

There are a few facts here that make me think that there could be a coverup going on. Since when is the driver of an accident allowed to leave so quickly while witnesses were not? It smells fishy to me, and there could be a chance that she was intoxicated behind the wheel. Of course, with her being allowed to leave so quickly and no bloodwork/breathalizer done the only ones that will ever know is the driver, her husband, and the other police at the scene.

Something really stinks about this case and it revolves around the driver being
allowed to leave. These people should not be suing anyone if the driver was
drunk they should face the music

Unfortunately there is no way to prove one way or the other if she was drunk, as the only ones that would know aren't talking.

This is reminding me of that police officer (RCMP?) out west that was driving drunk and crashed his car but left the scene. Skipped out on the breathalyzer or some such. Anyone else remember that? They couldn't prosecute him in the end for the accident.

Running down a kid and then leaving, then having the gall to sue the family. I hope the guilt burns a hole in whatever soul they have left

Unfortunately, I have the feeling that she won't be suffering from any guilt (except for the guilt that she is "suffering" to further her lawsuit) from this.
